New York, NY - THE SPIDER-Master of Men and
Master of Pulp Fiction returns in a new book with a special cover painting by Master Comic Book and Book Cover Artist and Designer Jim Steranko.
THE SPIDER: ROBOT TITANS OF GOTHAM, a new trade paperback from BAEN BOOKS, features three action thrillers by legendary pulp writer Norvell W. Page. To his many avid fans, The Spider is the foremost action hero of the pulp fiction era and the very forerunner of Batman. Stan Lee had cited The Spider as his influence, saying, "It was his name that grabbed me."
The Spider appeared in 118 novels published in THE SPIDER magazine between 1933 and 1943, and he went on to star in two Columbia Pictures action serial classics. Superman's creators had borrowed one of The Spider adventures for an eight-episode Sunday comic strip for The Man of Steel. Snoopy creator Charles M. Schulz said that it was the action that impressed him, and added, "They were great stories."
