Official Press Release

Ever since 1954, when Batman and Superman first teamed up in WORLD'S FINEST COMICS #71, the phrase "World's Finest" has been synonymous with the duo itself. The team went on to costar in every issue of WORLD'S FINEST COMICS for over 30 years, the tales from issues #71-101 having been collected in WORLD'S FINEST COMICS ARCHIVES Volume 1 (STAR08933) and Volume 2 (STAR14679).

But what about the stories that came before WORLD'S FINEST COMICS #71?

DC Comics is pleased to announce the publication of BATMAN IN WORLD'S FINEST COMICS ARCHIVES Volume 1, reprinting stories from WORLD'S FAIR COMICS 1940, WORLD'S BEST COMICS #1 and WORLD'S FINEST COMICS #2-16.

These classic Golden Age tales - only two of which have ever been reprinted before - are by some of the Dark Knight Detective's greatest writers and artists, including Batman creator Bob Kane. The volume also features the historic first appearance of the classic villain the Scarecrow, along with a foreword by comics historian R.C. Harvey.

This volume showcases artwork by Bob Kane, Jack Burnley, Ray Burnley, Charles Paris, Fred Ray, Jerry Robinson, George Roussos, and Dick Sprang; the stories are written by Bill Finger, Joe Greene and Jack Schiff.

BATMAN IN WORLD'S FINEST ARCHIVES COMICS Volume 1 is scheduled to be in stores on August 21.
