Official Press Release

New York, NY - Jim Hanley's Universe, NY's Premier Comic Book Retailer, is proud to present six of the best and brightest cartoonists and creators in the NY Area; Nick Bertozzi, Brendan Burford, Rina Piccolo, Jim Campbell, Paul Hoppe, and Marc Bernardin. The signing will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20th.

Nick Bertozzi is the Harvey Award winning cartoonist of RUBBERNECKER, and is the creator behind the season's two biggest graphic novels; HOUDINI (with Jason Lutes) and THE SALON, about the Cubist movement in Paris, spotlighting Pablo Picasso and Gertrude Stein and others. The New York Times reviewed THE SALON, saying, "…an amusing and well-played game, and often eerie…more than made up for by Bertozzi's deft characterization."

Brendan Burford is the editor of the acclaimed anthology, SYNCOPATED COMICS. "Brendan Burford proves that he's at the forefront of the next generation of Independent comics," said Store Manager, Nick Purpura. Burford has recently been named the comics editor for King Features Syndicate. Other SYNCOPATED contributors that will be in attendance will be Rina Piccolo, Jim Campbell and Paul Hoppe.

Marc Bernardin is best known for his day job; a contributing editor at Entertainment Weekly. THE HIGHWAYMEN (Wildstorm) is his first comic, co-written with lifelong friend, Adam Freeman, and is his first comic signing ever!
