Official Press Release

LOS ANGELES - Marc Silvestri, legendary comic book artist and CEO of Top Cow Productions, will serve as a judge for Comic Book Idol 3 (http://www.comicbookidol.tv), hosted by Comic Book Resources (http://www.comicbookresources.com). The winner of this year's competition will have the honor of drawing a cover for the mega-popular Witchblade series, along with an all-expense paid trip to the New York City Comicon, an assignment from Oni Press, an assignment with IDW Publishing, networking opportunities and the chance to have their art seen by countless fans and professionals.

Comic Book Idol 3 began with over 180 amateur comic book artists entering the fray, and the selection process has narrowed it down to the 10 best. These 10 are now challenged to battle it out using their art as their weapon, with only the most talented artist, as determined by the fans, still standing when the smoke clears the air. That person will be crowned the Comic Book Idol.

While the fans will be doing the judging, the competitors will have the advantage of having their work evaluated weekly by a panel of experts. Included in that panel along with Silvestri are Chris Ryall, publisher/editor-in-chief of IDW publishing, and James Lucas Jones, editor-in-chief of Oni Press, along with more guest judges to be announced.

"The potential this year is amazing. As a whole, the entries this year displayed a higher skill set than we've ever seen before, and this final group of ten you're going to see is outstanding," Jonah Weiland, executive producer of CBR, said. "Numerous stars will be born out of the contest this year, no doubt, but in the end only one will be the next Comic Book Idol. I can't wait to see which one of the 10 steps up!"

"This can lead to some big things for the winner, as we've seen with Patrick Scherberger who is now working regularly for Marvel and Carlos Rodriguez who's drawn some pretty high profile projects for Image," J. Torres, comic book writer and host of Comic Book Idol 3 said. "But just being in the competition has helped a number of artists launch their careers like Micah Gunnell, Jonathan Hickman, Joe Infurnari, Billy Penn, Jason Masters... I could go on!"

The winner of Comic Book Idol 3 will be named Nov. 15th.
