Marvel Comics has confirmed for CBR News that artist Daniel Acuna has signed an exclusive contract with the publisher. Additionally, Marvel has provided us with Acuna's first artwork created under the agreement, a variant cover to January's highly anticipated "HULK" #1 by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuiness.

Hailing from Aguilas, Spain, Acuna is a comics star in his native country and an emerging talent in the American comics market.  His first American work can be seen in "9/11," the September 11, 2001 tribute book released by Dark Horse in 2002, and Acuna's art has also graced the covers of Marvel's "Captain Universe" series in 2006, DC Comics' "Crisis Aftermath: The Battle for Bludhaven," "The Outsiders" and "JLA."  It was Acuna's interior artwork on books like DC's "Uncle Sam & The Freedom Fighters" and more recently "The Flash" that got fans' attention.

CBR News will in the coming weeks be speaking to the newly Marvel-exclusive Daniel Acuna, in an interview in which he will announce his first interior artwork assignment for the publisher.

Now discuss this story in CBR's Marvel Comics forum.
