Official Press Release
LOS ANGELES (March 4, 2008) – Comic Collector Live is donating 10% of the proceeds of each sale of the exclusive Phantom #21 comic book plus 30 copies of the variant to The Hero Initiative! In addition, Comic Collector Live has also committed to donating the one-of-a-kind original cover artwork drawn by Don Perlin to the non-profit organization.
Created by Lee Falk, The Phantom first appeared as a newspaper comic strip in 1936. Falk is also known for creating Mandrake the Magician, another popular comic strip hero. The Phantom has appeared in almost every form of entertainment media, such as cartoons, video games, television and film.
The Phantom #21 Exclusive Variant is limited to 300 copies worldwide and features a stunning black and white cover by legendary comic artist Don Perlin. While best known as a classic artist for Marvel Comics' Werewolf by Night and Transformers, Perlin is also remembered by fans for his time at Valiant Comics in the 1990's, where he co-created the character "Bloodshot" with writer Kevin VanHook. Mr. Perlin also enjoyed a short stint on a previous Phantom publication as artist.
The Phantom #21 Variant will feature the official Comic Collector Live logo on the cover. The comic will be sealed in a standard comic book bag and board, sealed with the CCL Silver Bullet Seal. Also, a Certificate of Authenticity for each issue will add to the collectability and uniqueness of every issue.
This exclusive variant is available for purchase at www.comiccollectorlive.com. A limited number of copies is available at this weekend's Megacon (March 7-9) in Orlando, Florida. Each issue will retail at the cost of $8.00.
