March 14, 2008 – The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books congratulates Kenny Keil of North Hollywood, the winner of THE COMIX STRIP logo design contest.

The contest launched on February 11, 2008 and ran through Friday, February 22 to promote the addition of THE COMIX STRIP to the annual Festival of Books. Comics fans, aspiring artists, and graphic designers were invited to submit designs which would be used on event signage and promotional materials.

Ten finalists were selected and their entries posted online on Friday, February 29.

About The Winner

Kenny Keil is a professional designer and illustrator. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 2002 with a BFA in graphic design, and is currently an art director at Paper Chase Printing in Hollywood. He resides in North Hollywood with his wife, Rowena, and enjoys making comics in his spare time.

WIZARD WORLD LOS ANGELES

To create awareness of THE COMIX STRIP among Southland comics and graphic novel fans, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books host a booth at Wizard World Los Angeles, this weekend at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

FEATURED GUESTS & PANELISTS

THE COMIX STRIP at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books will offer panels on manga, graphic novels, and comics, featuring some of the biggest names in the in the industry.

We are excited to announce "Hellboy" creator Mike Mignola will be one of our guests, appearing as part of a panel tentatively titled "Comics Heroes of the Page & Screen."
