Gail Simone, Orson Scott Card added to NY Comic Con Guest of Honor list

New York Comic Con (NYCC) has announced that Orson Scott Card and Gail Simone will appear at the convention as Guests of Honor. These two guests join a growing list of writers who will be participating in the show, including a recently revealed selection of science fiction and fantasy authors featuring Terry Brooks and David Lead, among many others. New York Comic Con is the second largest popular culture event in the United States and will highlight other Guests of Honor from across the pop culture spectrum including Mike Mignola, Grant Morrison, and T.M.Revolution. Hundreds of film and comics celebrities, artists and creators will be participating in the event which takes place April 18 " 20 at the Jacob K. Javits Center.

"It speaks volumes that we are able to attract such high quality, yet very different and unique writers to our show," comments Lance Fensterman, Show Manager for NYCC. "Orson Scott Card and Gail Simone have very special talents and I'm thrilled that we're able to host them at New York Comic Con. We pride ourselves on being able to offer something for everyone, and our Guests of Honor, along with all our other notable guests, go a long way to insuring that."

In addition to Card and Simone, convention organizers note that a number of newly named high profile Featured Guests will also be making an appearance at the show. Among the diverse guests just added to the growing list of celebrity appearances at NYCC, include: Ralph Bakshi, Jim Butcher, Garth Ennis, Mark Evanier, Scott McCloud, Ruben Procopio, and Steve Rude.

Orson Scott Card is the author of the novels Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, and Speaker for the Dead, which are widely read by adults and younger readers, and are increasingly used in schools. Besides these and other science fiction novels, Card writes contemporary fantasy, biblical novels, the American frontier fantasy series The Tales of Alvin Maker, poetry, and many plays and scripts. Besides his writing, he teaches occasional classes and workshops and directs plays.
