[CSI]IDW Publishing, the publisher of the recently optioned for film "30 Days of Night," has announced they've signed an exclusive deal with CBS Consumer Products to publish a five issue mini-series based on the hit CBS television show, "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."

The series will be written by Max Allan Collins, the author of the graphic novel "Road to Perdition." Collins is already familiar with the source material having written several CSI prose novels already.

Covers for the series will be provided by Ashley Wood, but his contributions won't stop there. Fans of the telvision show are familiar with the stylized presentation of the forensic and flashback scenes. In the comic book series Wood will be providing the art for those sections. Artist Gabriel Rodriguez will handle the rest of the art chores on the book.

"We're very excited to be working with such a great property," said Ted Adams, Publisher of IDW Publishing in a release. "Everyone at IDW is a big fan of the show, and it's a natural for comics. We plan on doing licensed comics right. There's been a long history in comics of mediocre licensed books. We're going to change what people expect."

The 32-page "C.S.I. #1" will be published by IDW Publishing in December 2002, and will retail for $3.99.
