Ablaze Media Chooses Diamond for Bookstore Distribution

Ablaze Media Ltd. has named Diamond Comic Distributors as the exclusive U.S. and non-exclusive worldwide distributor of its English-language graphic novels to the bookstore, library, warehouse club, and mass merchandise markets.

The England-based Ablaze Media Ltd. is a new venture founded by writer Rob Dunlop and artist Peter Lumby for the publication of original comics material, with a focus on graphic novels. The company's first offering, the comedic Tozzer and the Invisible Lap Dancers GN, is scheduled for a November 2002 debut.

"Evocative of past pop culture-based successes, Ablaze Media's premiere title is sure to appeal to anyone in search of a hilarious read," said Diamond Vice President of Purchasing Bill Schanes, "and we look forward to promoting this and future releases from the company in both the specialty and mainstream markets."

"We are delighted that Diamond will be handling our bookstore distribution," said Dunlop. "They have a unique understanding of both our work and the retail market, and they have the resources to help us reach as wide an audience as possible. We look forward to working with Diamond on Tozzer and future titles."

Diamond's Sales Team will begin working with bookstores, book wholesalers, warehouse clubs, mass merchandisers, and libraries to place Ablaze Media's graphic novels across the country. "Humor titles have long been a favorite with traditional and non-traditional comics readers alike, indicating a strong future for this young publisher," Schanes added. "We're pleased that Ablaze has chosen Diamond for its bookstore distribution needs."

Diamond Signs AdHouse Books for Bookstore Distribution

Diamond Book Distributors has announced that it has been named the exclusive U.S. and non-exclusive worldwide distributor of AdHouse Books' English-language graphic novels to the bookstore, library, warehouse club, and mass merchandise markets.

AdHouse Books was founded with the purpose of helping artists to create distinct, original stories in the format of comics and books. AdHouse Publisher Chris Pitzer has over 10 years of experience in the comics industry, having worked with such publishers and studios as Eclipse Comics, WildStorm Productions, IDW Publishing, and Alternative Comics.

"AdHouse's first offering, Joel Priddy's Pulpatoon Pilgrimage, has been met with rave reviews," said Diamond Vice President of Purchasing Bill Schanes, "indicating a very bright future for this up-and-coming publisher."

"I'm very excited to take this next step in distribution with Diamond," commented Mr. Pitzer. "The buzz about Pulpatoon Pilgrimage has been building (including the SPX Ignatz Award for Debut Book) and I hope the

excitement will translate to the bookstore market."

Diamond's Sales Team will begin working with bookstores, book wholesalers, warehouse clubs, mass merchandisers, and libraries to place AdHouse's graphic novels across the country. "With more and more mainstream retail outlets looking beyond super-heroes for their graphic novel purchases, publishers like AdHouse will play an increasingly important role in the years to come," Schanes added, "and we're honored that Pitzer has chosen Diamond for his company's bookstore needs."

Abiogenesis Press Selects Diamond for Bookstore Distribution

Diamond Book Distributors has announced that it has been named the exclusive U.S. and non-exclusive worldwide distributor of Abiogenesis Press's English-language graphic novels to the bookstore, library, warehouse club, and mass merchandise markets.

Located in London, England, Abiogenesis Press was founded by creator Gary Spencer Millidge for the publication of his award winning series, Strangehaven. Based in magic and mysticism, the acclaimed series has received rave reviews from such diverse publications as The Washington Post, Comics International, Tripwire, Wizard: The Comics Magazine, and others. Noted writer Alan Moore described the series as "soap opera noir."

"When it comes to shining a realistic light on the worlds of fantasy, few do it better than Gary Spencer Millidge and Abiogenesis Press," said Diamond Vice President of Purchasing Bill Schanes. "It's an honor to add them to the Diamond Book Distributors family."

"Strangehaven was originally conceived to appeal to the general book-reading public and I've always made every effort to ensure that it can be enjoyed by both the comics newbie and the comics connoisseur. Subject matter, artwork and page layout are intended to make a mature, complex mystery accessible to the widest possible readership," said Abiogenesis Press Publisher Gary Spencer Millidge. "I'm extremely happy to have signed a deal with Diamond for the Bookstore trade which I believe will help Strangehaven to broaden its reader base beyond its cult comics niche to the regular book market which I believe to be its natural home. The Strangehaven series of "soap opera noir" graphic novels is planned to run to at least four volumes."

Diamond's Sales Team will begin working with bookstores, book wholesalers, warehouse clubs, mass merchandisers, and libraries to place Abiogenesis's graphic novels across the country. "Thanks to the success of films such as Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, titles like Strangehaven are hot commodities in the mainstream bookstore market," Schanes added, "and we look forward to helping Abiogenesis find optimal placement for its products in that venue."
