I write a lot of books, I guess. I mean, that's what people seem to talk about the most when they talk about me. I hear it at cons all the time, "Hey, you sure do write a lot of comics." "You're really competing with Bendis this year for putting out the most books, aren't you?" I hear stuff like that all the time. I don't do it on purpose. I don't sit down and say, hey-- I sure do want to have seven books come out every month from here on out-- it just ends up that way (or close to it-- I couldn't do seven books a month on a regular basis, that's crazy talk).
I just like to write, it's my most favorite thing in the world to do. I'd do this for free, really, I would-- just don't tell Marvel that.
So anyway, the way my life has always been, so far, is that the first half of the year, I do a few books, one a month at least, usually two or three so that January through July is pretty steady, and then August through December is just wacky-- full of stuff. I always seem to have the bulk of my work come out in the last months of the year. So this year I was going to cut back. I don't know if you all noticed, but aside from "Battle Pope" reprints and a couple late books that should have been out months ago, all I've really had going on is "Walking Dead," "Invincible," and "Marvel Team-Up." I thought that this would be a pretty laid back year coming up (and I'm talking about 2006, not the current year that's almost over).
I've recently been offered some really cool gigs which have filled my schedule to the brim. I've got massive amounts of comics to write over the next few months, and really, there's no sign of my schedule slowing down. Which really, when it gets down to it, is a good thing, right? Just keep your eyes peeled for some big news coming up. It's a really exciting time here at the Kirkman household.
So anyway, I didn't want to just do another jpeg dump column, because that does make me feel just a little cheap, so I wanted to type something for you people to read, but yeah... I'm a little busy so this column again is going to be less words and more art preview. But in the end, doesn't that just give you more time to... BUY MY BOOKS?
