Final tallies are in and the X-Men movie is an undeniable success.
The 20th Century Fox adaptation of the popular Marvel Comics grossed $54.5 Million dollars in North America over the weekend, the Hollywood Reporter is saying. The X-Men bowed at 3,025 locations with a per screen average of $18,007. This sum is a record for a three day weekend in July. "Men in Black," another adaptation of a Marvel comic (through it's purchase of Malibu Comics in the early 90's) held the previous record at $51.1 Million.
What are the chances of this being the first X-Men in a series of X-Men films? With results like these it's a very high likelyhood and the film's actors are already signed to a sequel.
