Earlier this year, CBR News told you about "High Rollers," a new Boom! Studios mini-series by critically acclaimed crime-novelist Gary Phillips and Brazillian artist Manuel Magalhaes. The series is a modern gangster story set in Los Angeles.

"There are going to be some fresh elements in it, but there are also certainly some echoes to 'The Wire' and even 'The Sopranos' and 'American Gangster.' Not to say that it is all rolled together into one but it is certainly a classic tale, at least in this stage (laughs), of the rise of a homegrown gangster," Phillips told CBR News in February.

With the first issue of the book in stores now, Boom! Studios has provided CBR News with the first part of a four part tour of Los Angeles conducted by Gary Phillips. In this first episode, Phillips introduces the series and its main characters. In future episodes, Phillips will take you around Los Angeles to the locales where the book takes place, for you the reader to get a sense of what it's like out there on LA's mean streets.
