IRON MAN 2

Director Jon Favreau talked to the Los Angeles Times giving up some news that many fans will be happy to hear. "We're working on it now," he said, "which hasn't been officially announced. It will be released in 2010."

THE SPIRIT

Actor Sam Jackson was cornered by Collider and described the new project with Frank Miller. "Frank has made the film he wanted to make, and hopefully it’ll be that.  It’s a cartoon...to me.  The movie is a cartoon.  We do Wile E. Coyote type stuff," Jackson said. "I hit [lead actor Gabriel Macht] with toilets and stuff.  We’re both indestructible.  I created him and made him indestructible, and then I turned around and used the stuff on me, so I’m indestructible, and even when I get shot I shake the bullets out of my head.  It’s a cartoon...I get to dress up like a Nazi!"

KICK-ASS

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson and Lyndsy Fonseca are set to star in Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of the violent Mark Millar comic book. Johnson plays title character, while Fonseca plays the object of the teen's infatuation who believes Dave is gay. Cage is a former cop who wants to bring down a druglord and has trained his daughter (Chloe Moretz) to be a lethal weapon. Christopher Mintz-Plasse is also in the cast. A fall shoot in London and Toronto is planned.

WAR HEROES

Speaking of Mark Millar, the iconoclastic creator gave an audio interview to The Fourth Wall podcast, and he talked about yet another cinematic ambition shaping up. "We don't do options. If you option it you have no real control over it," Millar said. "The deal that we're doing is that we get the actor, the producers that we want and we just make the film, or its off the table. This week we're going to decide which studio we're going to run with. There are  four or five at the moment that want to do it. I think it's really important to get this out somewhere between 2010 and 2011 because one of two things will happen: either the world will possibly end at that point. The other thing is the situation can change...I don't want it lying around like 'Watchmen' for 20 years."

SMALLVILLE

USC alumnus and Entertainment Weekly writer Michael Ausiello dropped some spoilers about the upcoming season in his column this week.

Meanwhile, Ausiello's former employers at TV Guide revealed that Canadian actress Charlotte Sullivan will play Maxima in an upcoming episode.

Creative team Kelly Souder and Brian Peterson talked to CBR News about changes they have planned as they take over the show.

Finally, Kryptonsite has fresh spoilers about the October 30th episode, "Identity."
