Official Press Release

Due to the utterly insane, under-medicated and completely overwhelming demand, The Storefront Artists Project is thrilled to announce that THE ART OF JOE STATON has been extended!

The exciting exhibit and interactive programming will now run through September 14, giving the world an extra two weeks to see what all the excitement is about!

Due to the extension the previously schedule "Drawing Sketch-A-Thon" with Joe Staton will take place on August 31 from 12 to 5 PM. The closing reception originally scheduled on August 31 will now take place September 13 from 6-8 PM.

Joe Staton is a world-famous cartoonist and comic book artist whose work on household names such as Batman, Scooby Doo, Rugrats, Jonny Quest, the Wild Thornberrys, Green Lantern, E-Man and Michael Mauser is being highlighted in the exhibition.

With a career spanning over three decades, Staton is a living legend in the world of comic book art. Beginning in 1971 with Charlton Comics, where he worked with Nicola Cuti to create E-Man and Michael Mauser, two popular characters still published today, Staton has delighted and excited millions. His work also appeared in the most successful crime comic of our time - Scooby Doo. Still at his drawing board, Joe is currently the artist on Jughead's new look from Archie Comics.

Pittsfield's Storefront Artist Project teamed with the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art in New York (MOCCA) to present The Art of Joe Staton. The exhibit is curated by Lawrence Klein, chairman emeritus and founder of the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. A resident of Pittsfield, Klein founded the New York based museum in 2001. "When I founded the museum, it was a way to set an example on how people can give back to the community. Similarly, I became involved with the Storefront Artists Project to give back to the community in which I now live," said Klein.

All programs are free of charge and held at The Storefront Artists Project, unless otherwise stated. For more information, including pre-registration contact the Storefront Artist Project at 413-442-7201 or visit www.storefrontartist.org.
