GREEN LANTERN

In the realm of rumors, Moviehole starts us off with allegations that "Angel" vet David Boreanaz is up for the role of Hal Jordan while "Watchmen" star Carla Gugino is being considered for Carol Ferris.  They come to this assumption based on last week's concept drawings, which were commissioned by director Greg Berlanti.

Meanwhile, back in the valleys of the verifiable, writer Marc Guggenheim gave The Pulse an update on the script development.  "I've been working my ass off on Green Lantern," he said. "I'm ready for a weekend off. I really can't say too much about it. I've sworn a blood oath of secrecy. I will tell you it features Hal Jordan and is an incredibly faithful rendition of the character. It honors everything everyone loves about the hero. We approach it from a fan's perspective. Every step of the way, we ask ourselves what we want to see and what the fans will want to see. I think we have a script that will actually satisfy on those levels. Right now I'm just doing a rewrite for the studio with Greg [Berlanti] and Michael [Green]. We'll turn that in next week. We just keep moving forward. It's really good stuff."

AVENGERS

Speaking of casting rumors, the word from Oh No They Didn't is that actress Eva Longoria is in the running to play Janet Van Dyne -- better known as The Wasp -- in an eventual team-up project, backed up by photos of her allegedly in Marvel's garage with a handful of comics.

HEROES

Tons of info about the new season are available here at CBR.

Actress Kristen Bell is quoted at Sci Fi Wire talking about fleshing out the character of Elle Bishop.  "They're showing more of her human side," Bell said. "She's this vaguely barbaric, unfeeling, antisocial adaptive killer who's coy. However, she's had some tough decisions to make [over the years, and the writers are] giving her more depth. There are flashback scenes showing that she's intricately woven into people's lives before you met her. She met a lot of [the characters] before she was introduced on the show."

TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN

Hold on to your wig -- are you ready for alleged concept art showing not just a mechanoid named Long Haul, but a special project he has with five of his pals ...

Meanwhile, writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are quoted at Sci Fi Wire talking about what to expect in the sequel. "People will say, 'Look, the explosions are going to be bigger,' but I think Bob and I felt that it was our job -- and continues to be our job -- to say, 'It's not really about that, because those things in a way are a given,'" Kurtzman said.  "What it's about is making sure the emotional stakes feel like they are at a new place and that this movie has a reason to tell itself beyond just the studio wants another 'Transformers' movie. And a lot of that has to do with 'How do you make this movie more emotional? How does this movie stand out from the first one?'"

MULTIPLE COMICS COMING TO CINEPLEXES

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a number of comics properties just got shuttled into development, including Larry Hama's "Dr. Deth With Kip and Muffy," Gary Reed's "Deadworld" and "Sins of the Fallen," among others.

SMALLVILLE

Mmm, smell those fresh spoilers from Kryptonsite and Entertainment Weekly!

GHOST RIDER 2

Not if actress Eva Mendes has anything to say about it.  She told MTV, "I think 'Ghost Rider' had its moment.  I don't know about a sequel, but I don't think it needs one.  I think it was a great experience, and I was so proud of it. It was fun ... but I think it's done.  But look, hey, if it's Nicolas Cage again -- I'll do anything with him."

G.I. JOE/WATCHMEN

Ain't It Cool News has a scooper report on a special Paramount presentation in London showing footage from the two films.

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN

There are some spoilers for upcoming characters and plotlines at Marvel Animation Age.

XIII

A grainy trailer for the comic book/video game adaptation has landed on YouTube.

THE CASTING COUCH

We can't do this without you.  The rumors, the scoops, the set photos -- they're all fueled by passionate fans emailing in the goods.  The ones who ask, "What do you mean your sister's dating somebody who works for Warner Brothers?"  The ones who know the code names of movie projects and scour city permit filings for them.  The devoted, the involved.  Fans, just like you.  Whatever you know, we wanna know, and whether you want your name shouted to the web's rafters or kept closer than a classified report, we've got you covered like a comforter.  Broadcasting live from Los Angeles, this is your humble scribe Hannibal Tabu saying thank you for your time and indulgence, look for some changes to The Comic Reel to mark Year Six (which launches in October), and The Hundred and Four loves you more than some Skrull does.
