CBR News was informed Saturday morning that the Michael Turner tribute celebration to be held at Golden Apple Comics in Northridge, California this Saturday afternoon has been canceled due to the wild fires ranging in the surrounding area. Golden Apple's General Manager Ryan Liebowitz issued the following statement.

To all of our Customers & Friends - Unfortunately, due to the recent fires in Sylmar & Granada Hills, we have decided to cancel the Michael Turner Tribute event and 25th Anniversary Fundraiser at our Valley shop today: November 15, 2008

However, we are still open for business and are continuing the BIG SALE for all who come in today. We are contacting all of the special guests and will reschedule this important charity event sometime in December.

Thank you for your understanding and patronage. Our thoughts and prayers are with the firefighters and families affected by this tragedy.

Ryan Liebowitz
Golden Apple General Manager

Aspen Editor-In-Chief Vince Hernandez told CBR News this morning that plans are to reschedule the event for a week or two from today.
