The DC Reviews team was certainly busy this past week. 24 separate books and trade paperacks were reviewed in the last seven days, with mostly positive results. In the previous week no single book received the coveted five star review – would any books this past week do better?

Nope, but this past week saw a number of books check in with four stars and two books received 4.5 stars. As you probably saw from our spotlight review earlier this week, the “JSA Kingdom Come Special: Superman” #1 was one of those 4.5 star reviewed books. Timothy Callahan said of the issue, “a deeply passionate and vividly illustrated exploration of a supremely powerful man who lacks the power to help those he cares most about.”

Young Liars” #9 was the second book to receive 4.5 stars. Of the David Lapham driven Vertigo series, CBR Reviewer Chad Nevett said, “Unpredictable, passionate, odd, idiosyncratic, and very quite funny... really, your typical issue of ‘Young Liars.’ Then again, there is no ‘typical’ issue of this book…”

Books that received four star ratings this past week included “Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson: Homecoming” #1, “Fables” #78, “Captain Britain and MI: 13” #7, “X-Men/Spider-Man” #1 and “Vixen: Return of the Lion” #2.
