MSNBC reported this morning on the latest in an ongoing string of Presidential appearances in mainstream superhero comics – with a twist. Bo Obama, the U.S. President’s new Portuguese Water Dog puppy, will guest-star in the fourth issue of Marvel Comics’ “Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers.”

Written by Chris Eliopoulos with artwork by Ig Guara, issue #4 finds the Pet Avengers meeting up with Bo, whose collar is decorated with one of the dangerous Infinity Gems. Thus the Pet Avengers “not only have to save the universe, they have to save the pet,” Eliopoulos told MSNBC.

“Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers #4 gos on sale August 12 from Marvel Comics.
