May 29, 2009, Northridge, CA -- Comic-book superstar Geoff Johns and Eisner Award-winning comic-book retailers Earth-2 Comics are excited to announce their new partnership, commencing with the opening of Earth-2 Comics' new second location in Northridge, California! The new store is co-owned by Johns and Earth-2 Comics principals Carr D’Angelo and Jud Meyers and has been open for business since April 29.
“When Earth-2 Comics first opened their doors and I stepped in, I knew this store was something special,” said Johns. “Since then, I’ve been amazed by what Carr and Jud have built. I’ve wanted to get into the retailing side of the industry for years, to learn about and support the backbone of comics. And there are no better partners I can do that with than Carr, Jud and Earth-2. Plus, now I can harass Bob Wayne. A lot.”
“As a writer, Geoff’s talent has been to build a new audience of readers and that fits in with our philosophy at Earth-2 Comics,” said D’Angelo. “Geoff understands the customer base and that makes him a great partner.”
Meyers added, “A brilliant creator who’s spent the last five years redefining the Multiverse decides to join forces with a comic-book store named “Earth-2”? Tell me that isn’t a match made in heaven!”
To celebrate Geoff Johns' joining the Earth-2 family, Johns will be hosting the official grand-opening celebration of the new Northridge store on Saturday, June 13th, 2009, meeting the fans and working the register (so make sure you're buying plenty of copies of Green Lantern & Flash Rebirth)! And he won't be there alone! Also appearing will be Green Lantern artist Philip Tan , Jeph Loeb (Hulk, Ultimates 3), James Robinson (Superman, Justice League), Sterling Gates (Supergirl), Zeb Wells (New Mutants) and quite a few other comics creators making surprise appearances throughout the day.
Earth-2 Comics was established by entertainment industry veterans Carr D'Angelo and Jud Meyers in 2003 and has since become one of Southern California's most popular destinations for enthusiasts of comic books and graphic novels. Earth-2 Comics was the 2007 winner of the Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award, presented under the auspices of Comic-Con International: San Diego, which is given to an individual retailer who has done an outstanding job of supporting the comics art medium both in the community and within the industry at large.
