THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA

Marvel's Kevin Feige spoke with Hollywood.com (via Comic Book Movie) about the film. "This movie is Steve Rogers' origin story, and I think it is our burden to make Steve Rogers as appealing as any of our other characters ... he's not just the perfect boy scout who follows order every time. He has ideals he wants to live up to," said Feige. The film will be sent during World War II. "The origin of Captain America is really the origin of the Marvel universe," he continues. "It's about that time in history when the idea of the superhero began to emerge."

Directed by Joe Johnston, release date: July 22, 2011

SMALLVILLE

Kristin over at E! Online has a bullet-point recap of the "Smallville" panel from Sunday. She confirms the coat and silver "S." One comment of note: "The entire panel kept quiet when asked if there would be a Smallville movie in the future. Curious." There is also video of the special preview floating around out there if you can deal with squeeing.

New Episodes begin September 25, 2009

FATHOM/SOULFIRE

Nathan Best at Comic Book Movie has the low down on adapataion of Michael Turner's series from the Aspen Comics panel on Saturday. The new direct-to-video film screened at Comic-Con on Wednesday. I was there and I have a full review here at CBR. We should also be getting a report on the DC Universe Animated Panel which featured cast and crew of "First Flight" and the next film, "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies."

MARVEL ANIME

Reader Holden emailed and let me know Fanboy.com has the test trailer for the upcoming "Marvel Anime" project from Japanese animation studio Madhouse. I was at the panel on Friday which featured writer Warren Ellis, who will script the series for Madhouse. According to Ellis, there will be four films, each one focusing on a different Marvel property. The four will be Wolverine, Iron Man, Blade, and the X-Men.

JONAH HEX

According to 411Mania, "Jonah Hex" has bumped up its release date by a month and change. Apparently, the move is an effort to counterprogram Disney/Pixar's "Toy Story 3" Somehow, we all missed that in the Comic-Con shuffle. Cinematical reported the date change back on the 23rd.
