FANTASTIC FOUR

Despite the sale of Marvel Entertainment to Disney, "The Fantastic Four" will remain at Twentieth Century Fox. Variety reports Akiva Goldsman has been brought on to produce a reboot of the franchise. Michael Green, co-writers of "Green Lantern" has been tapped to provide the script. Since this is being classified as a reboot, it will, presumably, feature a completely new cast.

Release date: TBA

RED SONJA

Following up on her previous twitter post, actress Rose McGowan stresses she still intends to be Red Sonja. To clarify press reports: Red Sonja is delayed. I pulled out of doing it in '09. Not permanently.Hopefully will follow Conan," writes McGowan.

SUPERMAN/BATMAN: PUBLIC ENEMIES

The DCU Moviepage was kind enough to load this sneak peak at the film to YouTube:

Featuring the voices of Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy, release date: September 29th, 2009

IRON MAN 2

In case you are wondering how the Disney purchase of Marvel changes the plan for Iron Man 2 or any of the other films previously planned, the answer is no. Entertainment Weekly received a statement from Paramount. "This distribution deal will be unaffected by today's transaction," says the studio. "We look forward to continuing to work with Marvel and, with today's announcement, to working with Disney to replicate the incredible success of Iron Man on all our future collaborative projects." They list "Iron Man 2," "Thor," "Captain America," "Avengers," and "Iron Man 3" as the films included in their five-picture deal with Marvel.

MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS

When I took over the Comic Reel two months ago, no one would have believed Marvel and Disney would come together. Look how much can change in such a short time. Clearly, everyone is still finding their footing in the new landscape, but surely the news will get more heated (than usual) in the next few days. If you discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The power is yours! Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of finishing Batman: Arkham Asylum.
