THE GREEN HORNET

Despite the constant threat slipping of release dates, director changes, and a long development process, "The Green Hornet" is go! Collider and many other sites are reporting the film has begun principal photography. The site was provided with a press release stating, "Production is underway on the Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) helmed film, which is produced by Neal H. Moritz (I Am Legend, The Fast and the Furious) and executive produced by Michael Grillo (The Accidental Tourist)." The press release also announces actors David Harbour and Tom Wilkinson have joined the cast.

Starring Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, release date: December 17th, 2010

30 DAYS OF NIGHT: DARK DAYS

Bloody Disgusting has learned the sequel to "30 Days of Night" will begin shooting this October in Vancouver, Canada under the direction of Ben Ketai. He wrote the "30 Days of Night" web series. The film is based on a story by original "30 Days" writer Steven Niles and Ketai.

Release date: TBA

LOBO

As we reported at CBR yesterday, director Guy Ritchie has been tapped to direct a feature film based on everyone's favorite Czarnian. "Lobo" is coming to the big screen, but the production is aiming for a PG-13 rating ... so the Main Man will not be too outrageous.

Release date: TBA

SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK

The troubled musical will go on, according to Variety. "Word among legiters has it that production on the troubled musical will start up again Wednesday with a call to resume work on the show, which has been halted since early August due to what producers call a cash-flow problem," says Variety. Apparently, the show will open on time, despite the delay.

Release date: February 25th, 2010

SURROGATES

IGN has its own edit bay visit with director Jonathan Mostow. They ask him about sequel possibilities. "There are enough good ideas in here to probably get a few sequels," says the director. "But I think by, like, number four or five, when you're really bankrupt for ideas, then you start having the surrogates fight back!" Meanwhile, Latino Review has a TV Spot for the film.

Starring Bruce Willis, release date: September 25th, 2009

WHITEOUT

In case you missed it, I attended a press conference for the film last Friday. Full write-up is available here at CBR.

Starring Kate Beckinsale, Tom Skerritt, release date: September 11th, 2009

JONAH HEX

According to Harry Knowles at Ain't It Cool News, heavy metal act Mastodon is scoring the film.

Starring Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, release date: June 18th, 2010

THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN

In probably the first of many shake-ups from the Disney purchase of Marvel, the animated Spider-man series will no longer be produced by Sony, if it continues at all. IGN caught up with Supervising Producer Greg Weisman about the state of the show. "What hasn't changed, I imagine, is that we're still waiting to hear whether Disney XD even WANTS a new season. If Disney XD decides they don't want any episodes, it's no longer likely that we'd shop the series around to XD's competitors. So any decision begins at XD, I would think. And before you ask, no, nobody at Disney has talked to me about the series," says Weisman.

New episodes: TBA

PRELUDES AND NOCTURNES

With the week almost up, we inch ever closer to the end of summer. Which also means we inch ever closer to next summer and the blockbusters and the films slated for release before then. In the meantime, if you discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Farm fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of 3-D Home Theater.
