SUPERMAN BEGINS?

DC Entertainment president, Diane Nelson tells MTV News the new company is not working on a live action Superman feature. ""We've obviously done a lot of great things behind the property in our history, and it's a key part of the family, but we don't have current plans behind Superman," says Nelson. Of course, keep in mind the DC Entertainment announcement was not supposed to happen until the beginning of 2010, and a slate of announcements are still scheduled for that time. DC Entertainment's parent company, Warner Bros, is still bound by the courts to get a Superman films into production by 2011 or lose control of the franchise. This means the company must be actually filming by that point. Is it possible DC and Warner Bros could get a project off the ground in a year? It would certainly be a test of the new organization.

Release date: 2012?

SPIDER-MAN 4

Superhero Hype and several sites are reporting Sony's intention to release the film in IMAX. "The last two 'Spider-Man' releases have been available in IMAX theaters, and we're very much looking forward to our return to a wider IMAX theatre network with this exciting new chapter in the continuing adventures of Spider-Man," says Rory Bruer, President, Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures Releasing. The press release also mentions, for the first time, Kirsten Dunst's involvement in the fourth film.

Starring Tobey Maguire, release date: May 5th, 2011

SURROGATES

Collider has a number of clips from the upcoming film:

Starring Bruce Willis, release date: September 25th, 2009

GREEN LANTERN

Reader David sent me a link to this post at laineygossip.com, where they suggest Ryan Reynolds might be looking for a new project in the event "Green Lantern" is delayed due to the situation with the production's Australian agreements. This is far from official and rather gossipy, but since things are rather quiet on the "Green Lantern" front, this could be a ripple of trouble.

Directed by Martin Campbell, release date: June 17th, 2011

IRON MAN 2

"I am not in 'Iron Man 2' to my knowledge," says Edward Norton to MTV News. The actor had been rumored as a surprise cameo in the sequel, not unlike the Nick Fury/Samuel L. Jackson appearance in the first film. While Norton says he is not in the film, it still leaves the Hulk -- sans any resemblance to the actor -- on the table.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., release date: May 7th, 2010

THE WEAPON

Disney Channel star David Henrie has signed to star and develope a feature film based on Platinum Studio's "The Weapon," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Reporter describes the project: "'Weapon' follows martial arts enthusiast and inventor Tommy Zhou, who has developed a ground-breaking portable innovation that an evil order will stop at nothing to steal."

New episodes: TBA

SMALLVILLE

Kryptonsite has a number of updates this morning, including new images, the title for episode ten, and the possibility the Geoff Johns written "Society" episode will be slotted as episode eleven.

New episodes begin: September 25th, 2009
