X-MEN 4?

While covering a press event for the home video release of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," Slashfilm asked producer Lauren Schuler-Donner about the status of the various "Origins" spin-offs. She revealed her intentions to make "X-Men 4" or, um, "X4" and a filmed based on "New Mutants." Slashfilm's report, unfortunately, does not contain direct quotes from the producer, but this is the first movement on continuing the original "X-Men" series I've heard in some time.

Release date: TBA

SUPERMAN BEGINS?

MTV News weighs in over Millar's comments on his website about their reporting on his Superman pitch. MTV now provides the original video conversation with Millar, so context is now understood:

I think Millar is, in fact, having a laugh with MTV's reporter. Will any of this actually impact the eventual Superman project? My guess would be: no.

Release date: 2012?

GI JOE 2

IESB points to a Korean news site which announces actor Lee Byeong-Heon will begin shooting the "G.I. Joe" sequel by "the end of the year." Meanwhile, Dennis Quaid tells Sci Fi Wire he would love to return to the role of General Hawk. He does have a few conditions, though. "I want to get out of the pit ... I want to ride a horse and shoot a gun. I want a horse with an accelerator suit," jokes the actor.

Release date: TBA

SURROGATES

Here at CBR, we have a featurette on the film called "Losing Your Surrogate." Meanwhile, The Orlando Sentinel (via kansascity.com) interviews the original series creator Robert Venditti. "The minute I heard Bruce Willis was cast was the first moment I allowed myself to hope that this might actually get turned into a movie," says the writer.

Starring Bruce Willis, release date: September 25th, 2009

JUSTICE LEAGUE

Comic Book Movie spots an interesting wrinkle in a Hollywood Reporter story about a sequel to the forthcoming "Sherlock Holmes." The Reporter article states, "The studio is poised to bring on Kieran and Michele Mulroney, the scribes who are penning its 'Justice League: Mortal' tentpole, to pen a draft of the new tale." "Justice League: Mortal" was the final name for the ill-fated League project from last year. Comic Book Movie's Brent Sprecher notes, "The way THR reports this news, you would think that perhaps they have some insider information telling them that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are still considering Justice League a 'go.'" Of course, the "Justice League" project appears to be the only other film the Mulroneys are attached to, even if its been dead for a year or more.

Release date: TBA

ARCHIE

As CBR reported earlier, Archie Comics has signed with Hollywood talent agency CAA to represent its stable of characters in film and television.

HEROES

Here at CBR, we have a video of our visit to the set.

Now airing new episodes

BATMAN 3

Just a reminder: there is no script. MTV News spoke with Michael Caine about the film. While he initially floats the "there is no script" boilerplate, he does make this statement: "There is no Johnny Depp in this Batman." Caine started a flurry of speculation last year by mentioning Depp as a potential new face for the series. Of course, Caine is laughing throughout the interview, so take it with the same amount of weight every other Batman rumor gets until there is a script.

Release date: TBA ... when there is a script

WINE AND CHEESE

Today seems like a fine day for wine and cheese, doesn't it? It's fall, but the temperatures are still high. Perhaps if you find yourself at such an event, you'll be in the presence of someone who is working on a comic book based film or TV project. If you discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of a nice Riesling.
