GREEN LANTERN

Over the weekend, Green Lantern was big news. First, the project has officially left Australia, according to The Hollywood Reporter on Friday afternoon. Late that night, Ain't It Cool News broke the rumor actor Jackie Earle Haley was leading the running to be cast as Sinestro. Haley appeared at Spike TV's 2009 Scream awards on Saturday and was asked by various outlets about the rumor. "I just heard about this, literally," the actor told MTV News. Meanwhile, Collider has video of the actor denying a further rumor he even tested for the part:

Directed by Martin Campbell, release date: June 17th, 2011

IRON MAN 2

While at the Scream Awards, Collider also had the chance to ask Stan Lee about his cameo in the film:

Starring Robert Downey Jr., release date: May 7th, 2010

SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

Director Edgar Wright posted a couple of photos from the editing bay on his blog over the weekend.

Starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, release date: 2010

SUPERMAN/BATMAN 2

According to Comics2film at Mania.com, the DC Universe Animated film will be the first in the direct to video range to receive sequel treatment. Comics2film says the sequel find its source "from one of the subsequent story lines from the Jeph Loeb comics series."

Release date: TBA

WOLVERINE 2/X-MEN FRANCHISE

Empire Online has posted a huge interview with producer Lauren Schuler-Donner in which she updates the status of the various X-Films in the works at 20th Century Fox. "We want to make it authentic so I think it's very likely we'll be shooting in Japan," says the producer of "Wolverine 2." She also confirms the presence of ninjas in the film. Using the "Harry Potter" films as a model, Schuler-Donner says "First Class" should not be a "kiddie movie." As for "Deadpool?" The producer tells Empire, "I want to ignore the version of Deadpool that we saw in Wolverine and just start over again. Reboot it. Because this guy talks, obviously, and to muzzle him would be insane." She also reveals the "Magneto" project is falling to the back of the line and may never be made.

'Wolverine 2' starring Hugh Jackman, release date: 2012? All others: TBA

PRIEST

Collider briefly spoke to actor Karl Urban about the film. He calls the project "really wicked."

Starring Paul Bettany, release date: August 13th, 2010

THOR

Ain't It Cool News is reporting the possibility of Jude Law and Robert DeNiro joining the cast. I'm putting this last because their source is a translation of a German GQ article in which actor Matthias Schweighöfer talks about the possibility of appearing in the film himself. There is no link to the GQ story, so this could just be a rabbit hole. DeNiro worked with director Kenneth Branagh before on "Mary Shelly's Frankenstein," in which he played the Creature, so it is not the crazy rumor ever posted, just one without a lot of weight to it.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, release date: May 20th, 2011

TWELVE MORE DAYS TILL HALLOWEEN

I'm not one of those people who decorates the house all through the month of October to celebrate Halloween, but with a little less than two weeks left, it's time to enjoy some classic scary movies. So expect some mention of these flicks here in the bottom line. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The power is yours! Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of "Phantasm."
