THOR

So, if the cast of the film wasn't jam-packed with talent already, Heat Vision reports actor Idris Elba has joined the cast. According to the article, he will play "Heimdall; as the guardian of Asgard, he stands on the BiFrost Bridge ready to defend the city from intruders." Elba appears to enjoy the comic book film route. He will appear in next April's "The Losers" and recently expressed an interest in "100 Bullets."

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, release date: May 20th, 2011

TURTLES FOREVER

A reader sent me a link to this commercial for tomorrow's TV movie, which brings the current Turtles in collaboration with their 80s cartoon and comic book counterparts:

Airs: Tomorrow!

JUDGE DREDD

Planning continues on the film. "Losers" artist Jock twittered the following this morning, "then a DREDD movie meeting with DNA in london on monday. really glad not to be missing this weekend."

Release date: TBA

IRON MAN 2

Director Jon Favreau cryptical retweeted this message from a reader, "RT @Ann_Howard: @Jon_Favreau PLEASE tell us the trailer is coming soon - w/Sherlock Holmes, perhaps??" Meanwhile, IGN asked Paul Bettany if he has recorded any Jarvis lines for the film. The actor recalled he had forgotten he even played Jarvis in the first film when it was released and "I don't know what I'm doing, whether I come back or not." Since the actor described his recording session on the first film as taking about an hour, he could be called in at any time during post production.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., release date: May 7th, 2010

RED SONJA

According to Fox News's Pop Tarts column, actress Rose McGowan says, "We’re hoping to start filming again in maybe a year." McGowan is still undergoing a series of operations to repair damage from injuries sustained on an earlier production. "I need one more arm surgery from nerve damage so I'm supposed to have that the beginning of December so if you see me anywhere I'll be hobbling around with a cast. It'll be very pretty," she says.

Release date: TBA

KICK-ASS

Those of you in overseas territories will get the film in a roughly timely fashion, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Focus Features International will release the film through Universal Pictures International "from the same month" as the US release. This means at least some countries will get the film in April, but the release will be staggered through the summer. The seven territories involved in the deal are the U.K., Germany, Australia, Latin America, Austria, Switzerland and New Zealand.

Starring Nicholas Cage, release date: April 16th, 2010

SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

The close-up on eyes theme continues in this photo from the editing bay of director Edgar Wright.

Starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, release date: 2010

WEEKEND GETAWAY

I was hoping for another Black Cat rumor to round out the week, but oh well ... I've got my rum drink, so cue up Loverboy. It's the weekend! While I'll be taking it easy this weekend as I feel flu-like symptoms coming on, I will be at a bad movie club on Sunday. Maybe I'll talk a little bit about it next week. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening this weekend, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of the next Black Cat rumor.
