LOBO

MTV News asked producer Joel Silver about his various comic book projects. While he mentioned his wish to do "Swamp Thing" in 3D and his intention to make "Sgt. Rock," he specifically singles out Lobo. "I want to try and make 'Lobo' very soon," says Silver. He also mentioned progress has stopped on "Wonder Woman," saying "Once the studio knows what they want to do, and makes a decision, they'll probably let us know."

SPIDER-MAN 4

Mysterio strikes again with a rumor of no-confidence and confusion. Various sites, including starpulse.com suggests Kirsten Dunst's Mary Jane Watson will be written out of the series and Anne Hathaway (in whatever character she ends up being, if she's in the film at all) becoming the principle love interest for Peter Parker. "The plan is for her character to be written out, probably by dying," says a source they say spoke with Star Magazine... oh, this comes from Star Magazine, unnamed sources and an article search engine that barely works. All the sites appear to use the same copy, but there is no link back to the Star Magazine story and I cannot find any recent reference to her on Star Magazine's site. Yeah, this is Mysterio again. Treat this with a heavy dose of skepticism.

Directed by Sam Raimi, release date: May 5th, 2011

PRIEST

Collider has the first poster for the film. It's a pretty standard close-up on face in red hues and simulated cracked surface to indicate the post-apocalyptic content. Also, I'd hate to work in a movie theatre and see Paul Bettany's eyes starring at me as I closed for the night.

Starring Paul Bettany, release date: August 27th, 2010

SUICIDE SQUAD

Collider spoke with producer Dan Lin about his various comic book based projects. He mentioned "Justice League Mortal" is on hold while DC and Warner Bros. figure out a strategy. In the meantime, he is developing "Suicide Squad." Lin says, "For us thatss a super villain movie. It's almost "Dirty Dozen" set in the world of supervillains. That's the only one for me that's on the front burner."

Release date: TBA

THE FORGOTTEN

A week or so again, Jareth Grealish wrote in to tell us the option on the project had been extended and a "well established screenwriter is now attached to the project." Slashfilm may have tracked down the identity of the writer. "One of my sources has come through for me, though, and I can confirm that it's John Rogers who has the gig," writes Slashfilm's Brendon Connelly. Rogers wrote the original "Global Frequency" pilot that famously leaked onto Bittorrent trackers and at some stage, wrote a draft of "Catwoman." He also writes the TNT drama "Leverage."

Release date: TBA

GOTTA BE READY BY CHRISTMAS EVE

Ever since I was a little kid, I've inflicted "The Night They Saved Christmas" on friends and family. It's a great artifact of the early 80s TV Movie making. The story revolves around an oilman and his family, who find themselves defending Santa from an oil baron played by the guy that used to voice the Smuckers ads. The film goes out of its way to explain Santa's miraculous powers by way of science. It's relentlessly corny and occasionally terribly saccharine, but not cynical in its intentions. While it is undeniably a bad movie, it is entertaining. It can only be seen on cable channels or an import DVD from Europe. If you happen to see it in the TV listings, give it a few minutes. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of a Paul Williams Christmas.
