LOBO

"Sherlock Holmes" has defeated "Lobo." According to The Los Angeles Times, director Guy Ritchie has left "Lobo" to work on a fast-tracked sequel to "Holmes." They talked with Joel Silver, producer of both projects, who says, "The studio wants us and Guy to focus on making another 'Sherlock Holmes.' So I think we're going to be doing that. But we're seeing what happens with this. Everybody is analyzing everything. It's all kind of happening right now as we talk. 'Sherlock' is sitting at just about $400 million in worldwide gross and showing itself to be pretty effective and pretty strong. So we're trying to see if we can do something quickly with another 'Sherlock Holmes' movie. We have some ideas and some good story points." Silver speculates the film will find another director.

SPIDER-MAN BEGINS?

Stan Lee talks to Access Hollywood about the reboot of the Spider-Man franchise and his various cameos:

Release date: TBA

KICK-ASS

Empire has posted a preview of its fold-out cover featuring character from the film. I'm completely avoiding the pun today, so don't expect me to say the cover looks "Kick-Ass." Oh. Damn.

Starring Nicholas Cage, release date: April 16th, 2010

GREEN LANTERN

Is this our first look at Kilowog, Tomar-Re, and Abin Sur? Cosmic Book News has some character designs that are being called legit. There Green Lantern page also has a summary of a previous version of the script, so beware of spoilers if you're going to look at Kilowog's puss. Meanwhile, Variety reports Sony Pictures Imageworks will be the lead effects house on the film.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, release date: June 17th, 2011

THE AVENGERS

In the following quote, Marvel's Kevin Feige let's slip an important bit of "Avengers" news from an interview with SFX for their March issue (via Superhero Hype): "My only concern is that when we launch a franchise--whichever character's franchise that may be--it should stand on its own two feet... So by the time 'The Avengers' comes in 2012, it's not just a team superhero movie with a bunch of characters with powers. It's three people - four including the Hulk; five including Nick Fury - who you've seen before in other movies, coming together for the very first time." This would appear to be confirmation of the Hulk's appearence on the film. Of course, once this makes the rounds, it'll probably get downplayed or denied.

Release date: May 4th 2012

CLASH OF THE TITANS

Release the Kraken in 3D! According to Heat Vision, Warner Bros will push the release date of the film back one week to April 2nd, but will convert the film for 3D projection. "Conversion expenses have been coming down, so each film will cost just $5 million to change into 3D. Warners also will absorb an additional $5 million expense per pic to pay for 3D glasses for exhibitors handling the movies," they write. While I have some problems watching movies in 3D, I'll always be willing to give it a go for a movie I'm looking forward to and "Clash of the Titans" is one such movie.

Starring Sam Worthington, release date: April 2nd, 2010

PRIEST

Director Scott Stewart tells Sci-Fi Wire that while the film version is set in the future, it has a connection to the Korean comics upon which it is based. "Now there are new stories that will be coming. You'll see how that story dovetails with ours. The Ivan Isaacs character in the 'Priest' comic book is the first prototype Priest. The characters in our movie are what came much later, when the Priests were trained by the church to be like Ivan Isaacs."

Release date: August 27th, 2010

SMALLVILLE

The Canadian trailer for "Absolute Justice" found on YouTube gives us the most screentime with the JSA yet:

New episode: Janurary 29th, 2010

HUMAN TARGET

Here at CBR, we spoke with Jackie Earle Haley, who appears on the show as Guerrero, a shadowy fixer in the world of Christopher Chance. "One of the things that's interesting about him is that it's hard to tell exactly where his loyalties lie. But I think, over time, we'll start to realize that this guy does have a philosophy. He's the kind of guy that understands the world we live in and how it really operates. He gets things done," says Haley

MASS EFFECT

If you need me the rest of the day, I'll be playing Mass Effect 2. I've already played forty minutes or so and it's pretty spectacular. Just the graphical upgrades and the revamped look of the Normandy are breathtaking. Through some promotions and gift card schemes, I got the special edition which comes with the first issue of the "Mass Effect: Redemption" comic book, hopefully I'll find sometime to read it in between sessions with the game. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, just plain weird, or spot Mysterio up to his usual hi-jinks, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of game withdrawals.
