THE FLASH

Busy week for DC Entertainment, it seems. IESB is reporting the long in development "Flash" film finally has a director in the form of Greg Berlanti. Berlanti is a co-writer on "Green Lantern" and director of the upcoming "Life as We Know it." It's still a rumor at this point as there's nothing but radio silence from DC Entertainment on all of these leaks. If all of this week's rumors turn out to be true, it puts the DC stable of characters in a much better place, film wise. It would be nice to see some of it get confirmed.

Release date: TBA

IRON MAN 2

Various sites are linking to a featurette about the film's Monaco sequence on the French version of MSN. There is some interesting new footage in the clip, including a little more Black Widow action.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., release date: May 7th, 2010

CONAN

According to Latino Review, MMA star Bob Sapp has been cast as Ukafa, one of the principle bad guys in the film. I want to make a joke about how these guys are stealing the jobs in comic book movies that used to go to wrestlers, but I don't want an MMA guy to severely injure me.

Release date: 2011

WANTED 2

The Loom of Fate has, um ... knitted? New York Magazine's Vulture reports Angelina Joile has dropped out of the sequel, effectively killing the project. According to Vulture, she skipped out on the project to star in a filmed called "Gravity" by "Children of Men" director Alfonso Cuarón. That film had been set ip at Universal -- the same studio as "Wanted 2" -- but, Vulture writes, "a few weeks ago, the studio put 'Gravity' into turnaround, possibly because it's such an artistically challenging project: Jolie would be alone on-screen for much of the movie, playing the sole surviving human member of a space mission, desperately trying to return home to Earth and her daughter."

Release date: TBA

JOHN CARTER OF MARS

Collider spoke with actor Ciaran Hinds about his role in the film as Tardes Mors. The sound is a little bit soft, but Ciaran Hinds can make even whispers sound compelling:

Release date: 2012

SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

Aint's It Cool News has a review of the film that is longer than a Twitter post. I haven't read it because I am avoiding detail spoilers on the film, but the reviewer does this: "The 7½ fight scenes are all utterly unique with a gleeful disregard or any semblance of realism or physical logic. While the effects were still a little rough, most were much closer to completion as compared to the previous reviewers’ impressions (no visible green screens, just some wires to be taken out and some effects to be polished). They are packed to the brim with comic-based conventions, over-the-top sound effects and Nintendo weaponry."

Starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, release date: August 13th 2010

WEEKEND GETAWAY

Cue some Lucky Soul and get me a White Russian, it's the weekend! I have the busiest Saturday I've had in months with no fewer than FIVE events all asking for my presence. Weird to be popular. Of course, that means I can't hit up the "Tron Legacy" event and didn't even bother trying to get tickets. I want to hear about it. Also, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, just plain weird this weekend, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of being double-booked.
