Sam Bayer, director of the "Nightmare on Elm Street" remake tells Bloody Disgusting the following when asked about upcoming projects: "There's one comic book I really dig that I want to go after that's bad-ass. I'd like to get it, it's called 'The Boys.' It's about a group of mercenaries and they're job is to kick the shit out of superheroes who get out of line. It doesn't get any better than that. In the world of 'The Boys,' superheroes are scumbags. My youngest brother is a comic book historian and he introduced me to a lot of graphic novels like 'The Dark Knight.' There are some great books I don't think people have tapped into yet." Oddly enough, before that interview was posted, MTV News posted a quick talk with "Boys" artist Darick Robertson in which he mentioned, "I feel very confident -- especially when we discussed the screenplay -- that it's faithful and they really are happy with it. They wanted it to be faithful and the writers seem to have delivered." There was no mention of Sam Bayer, though. It's just interesting to see the project get some press in a fashion that almost looks coordinated.

Marvel's Joe Quesada posted the following to his Twitter page yesterday: "Definition of 'goose bumps.' Pressing enter and watching a screenplay entitled 'AVENGERS' come out of my printer." SLOW NEWS DAY
Yeah, the newscycle was oddly slow this morning. Of course, that happens from time to time. The momentum overall seemed to slow during the Olympics and February is odd month for movies anyway, so perhaps now we'll see the pace pick up. I mean, of course we will. The summer movie season is lurking in the distance, kind of like that storm at the end of "Terminator." Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, just plain weird this weekend, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of thunder.
