CONAN

According to Latino Review, actor Steven Lang (the bad guy in "Avatar") has been been offered the role of Khalar Singh, the principle villian in the film. A breakdown of the character says, "His goal is to find the Queen whose blood will bring life to the demonic minions of Acheron while making himself king of this hellish power. With this power, Khalar will protect his legacy against the onslaught of master sorcerer, Thoth-Amon so that his weak son, Fariq may rule after his death." Latino Review is quick to note this is far from final, with contracts yet to be finalized. Things could easily change, but it looks like Conan will have his revenge on the actor.

Release date: 2011

WOLVERINE 2

The Showbiz 411 blog at The Hollywood Reporter confirms what Hugh Jackman has been saying for months. "Based on a story cycle by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont, Wolverine's adventures in martial arts will be a love story featuring a Japanese actress, I am told. 'It's a beautiful story,' says a source, 'and will be very different than the first film,'" writes Showbiz. They also write the film is set to lens in January, but no director is attatched.

Release date: 2012?

GREEN LANTERN

Nola.com (via MTV News) reports the closer of streets in New Orleans for test footage which took place yesterday. "Although filming for 'Green Lantern' has not yet begun, crews from Warner Brothers will be on location to run tests with a stunt car, according to Bill Doyle, supervising location manager," writes Nola. "The closure will be in the vicinity of the high bridge on Lake Road between Louisiana 22 and Lake Pontchartrain, according to news release from the state highway department."

Starring Ryan Reynolds, release date: June 17th, 2011

THE SHADOW

Latino Review reports "he who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men" has landed at Twentieth Century Fox. "After five years Sony woke up and said Sayonara to the Shadow," writes Latino Review's often helpful source. "So Raimi ran around begging for someone to save his precious invisible hero. And what the Taco has come to tell you is -- he's getting Fox to pick the project up.  Emma Watts at Fox is paying a MILLION DOLLARS to pick up 'The Shadow.' She may not realize what she is buying. And get this, ninos -- Raimi is no longer going to direct. Word is he is looking at David Slade to direct the film."

Release date: TBA

THOR

I guess today is the day for a cameo. Stan Lee posted the following to his Twitter feed: "Be assured, my brave Brigadiers, after shooting my Thor cameo tomorrow I’ll abandon my quest for stardom and lead you to glory once again." Smilin' Stan shortly followed with, "For Asgard! I now retire to gird my loins ‘gainst the forces of evil and humorlessness! Till it be morrow, my noble ones—Excelsior!"

Starring Chris Hemsworth, release date: May 6th, 2011

TRON LEGACY

Today's "Tron Legacy" Facebook countdown image: Sam Flynn inside the arcade:

Also, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a series is in the works. "The news was part of Disney's upfront presentation Tuesday evening to media buyers and clients, which included a preview of the 'Tron' series. Geared towards kids age 6-14, the plan is to precede 'Tron' with another project, a 10-part 'Tron' micro-series premiering in fall 2011 on Disney XD," they write.

Starring Jeff Bridges, release date: December 17th, 2010

CLASH OF THE TITANS

MTV News spoke with screenwriters Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. Hay discussed working with the Kraken and what their role as writers entailed in action scenes. "The Kraken was just great to work with. A very giving actor. Delivers his lines with precision and class! No, it terms of what the fight scenes were going to be, how the monsters were going to look, the choreography of it -- all that we worked closely with Louis on, getting inside his head and pulling out his very specific vision. Also our job as writers was to create a set of characters that you care about when they're going up against these monsters. The big set pieces are always about what the characters are going through in them, as opposed to it just being about action. The action becomes meaningful when you care about the people going through it." The writers also mention a trilogy has been discussed.

Starring Sam Worthington, release date: April 2nd, 2010

THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA

Screenrant reports the possibility of actor Robert Buckley being cast as Bucky. Buckley was part of an odd story a few weeks back where several sites announced him as playing the title role, but that initial story vanished like so much mist. "What I've been told is that Buckley did audition for the role of Captain America but they thought he might be a good fit for Cap's sidekick, Bucky. He was/is in talks for the movie and someone jumped the gun on presuming he was selected for the title role," writes Screenrant.

Release date: July 22nd, 2011

PRIEST

Director Scott Stewart tells MTV News about the famous film and TV vampires cast in the film. "Cam Gigandet is great," says Stewart of the "Twilight" actor. "This is really the role for him. ... you've got some James Dean and Brad Pitt happening with him, and he's not even trying. It's pretty awesome to see." As for "True Blood's" Stephen Moyer, Stewart said, "I had never met him before and we had dinner, talked about the part. He just embraced it and took it ... there's a good reason why every girl I know, when they found out he was going to be in the movie, was like, 'Can I visit in the days he works?'"

Release date: August 27th, 2010

CONFORMING NEGATIVE

I may have spent a little too much time editing video last night. It's been awhile since I picked up editing, but it seems the time is coming for me to get used to it again. Also, if you've never seen the 1937 version of "The Prisoner of Zenda," I highly recommend it. It's a melodrama that keeps threatening to become a swashbuckler. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, just plain weird this weekend, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of double monitors.
