RED

Collider has a set visit preview and an interview with producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura. "There's an underlying idea in this movie that we have all related to which is ... and we've coined the term for 'Red'—Retired Extremely Dangerous," he says. "The notion of our society the way we just cast off people, you know whether it's old or whether it's dead-end jobs or all the sort of notions of how difficult our society can be on people, this movie sort of has that underlying notion behind it is the empowerment of all those people who are sort of getting left behind, you know? Helen Mirren is a phenomenal wet works sniper. And she runs a B&B and that's what she does. And when you meet her she's like serving tea and making flower arrangements and you're like who's this lady? What the hell is going on? The next thing you know she's firing a 50 caliber machine gun, you know?"

Release date: October 22nd, 2010

GREEN LANTERN

Mark Strong tells the New York Post (via Comic Book Movie) about the voice of Sinestro. "All the Green Lanterns are able to communicate with each other in a common language because of their rings, so it doesn't really matter what accent they use," revealed the actor. "I talked about it with [director] Martin Campbell, and an English accent suits the character." Makes sense, really. All aliens should speak with an English accent.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, release date: June 17th, 2011

MEN IN BLACK 3

Josh Brolin tells MTV News he was excited by early story ideas for the film. "They got more specific with the story, and I go, 'Yes, that's f---ing great!' This is a character where I feel like I can do some actual acting work within this franchise that everybody knows," says Brolin. While he could not confirm his involvement in the film, he did mention shooting in the fall.

Release date: TBA

CONAN

Russian website Operationkino.net (via Collider) has the first pictures from the set, specifically, a muddy village:

I'm betting this is the village of Conan's birth. Think of Mako's narration from "Conan The Barbarian" when you read that last sentence again.

Release date: 2011

IRON MAN 3

With a $133.6 Million dollar opening US weekend and a worldwide take of $327.6 Million so far, "Iron Man 3" is assured, but as we look toward the Marvel films already filming, I'll conclude the Iron Man specific coverage with this tidbit from MTV News in which Jon Favreau discusses the third film and mentions the Mandarin:

Starring Robert Downey Jr., release date: TBA

PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME

Collider has a number of clips from the film:

Meanwhile, Variety has already posted a review of the film ... of sorts. Laden with Variety's special form of copy, their reviewer seems to find the film mostly adequate. "Having limbered up with 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,' protean Brit helmer Mike Newell ('Four Weddings and a Funeral,' 'Donnie Brasco') does just fine popping the action's kernels, but any personal seasoning can hardly be tasted. Perhaps what Newell brought most to the party was an affinity with the almost entirely British cast and crew," writes Variety's Leslie Felperin.

Release date: May 28th, 2010

THOR

The lads at Comic Book Movie spotted this audio from a recent Q&A with director Kenneth Branagh. A couple of minutes in, he mentions his research for the film. "My reading on a daily basis is literature from 870 AD and Jack Kirby and Stan Lee circa '67 as well," says Branagh.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, release date: May 6th, 2011

SMALLVILLE

Collider has a number of photos from Friday's season finale which are mostly Clark vs. Zod, but it looks like Tess Mercer got into a fight as well. Meanwhile, Kryptonsite has its own image gallery with Lois discovering a journal by one Virgil Swan. Click on either link if you're not afraid of spoilers.

Airs: Friday

SUPER SPACE VIRUS Z

Over the weekend, I came down with a particularly strong sickness I can only describe as a super virus from space. Therefore, I was in bed most of the weekend coughing and feeling generally awful. Not that I'd let that stop me from getting the Reel ready. I did manage to finish the "Iron Man 2" game and found it generally more enjoyable than the first game. It is painfully short, however, and the game tries to compensate by giving you a reason (XBox Achievements) to play the game again as War Machine. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of cough syrup.
