MEN IN BLACK III

Heat Vision reports Jemaine Clement will turn to evil in the film. Clement was the star of HBO's "Flight of the Conchords" and appeared in a number of commercials for Outback Steakhouse prior to the series. According to the article, Clement will play "a villain named Boris, who is described as being charmy and creepy at the same time. (The name Yaz was used as a filler name, and since the script is still being polished, there is a chance the name may change again.)" The article also mentions a majority of the film will take place in 1969.

Release date: TBA

GREEN LANTERN

While on a photo shoot, actress Blake Lively tells Vogue a little bit about the movie. "Our director likes it real—the fights close and dirty," she says. The production is utilizing a wire rig built for "The Matrix" films in stunt scenes. "You do that for ten minutes and you should see your body the next day! It's so exhilarating, so thrilling—and nauseating," Lively continued. Is Carol Ferris getting a chance to fight in this picture?

Starring Ryan Reynolds, release date: June 17th, 2011

COWBOYS & ALIENS

Director Jon Favreau is shooting camera tests for the film and shared a photo of ... someone in costume and intense backlighting:

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello has learned actress Olivia Wilde is taking a leave of absence from "House" to appear in the film.

Starring Daniel Craig, release date: July 29th, 2011

SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK

Yes, the Spider-Man musical is still happening. Reeve Carney, Peter Parker in the production, tells MTV News he is about to get fitted for his costume:

Release date: TBA

HEROES

In a statement published at The Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed blog, series creator Tim Kring thanks the audience and NBC for supporting the show and also says the following: "[I] look forward to finalizing our discussion about a number of ways to keep the 'Heroes' universe alive for its fans." Is he referring to the often-mentioned wrap-up event or other brand extensions?

Airdate: Fall?

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

While we've known the film will shoot in England for sometime, The Los Angeles Times goes in depth into why production shifted away from LA. Originally, Marvel intended to shoot the bulk of its films at a studio in Manhattan Beach, California, but the costs of replicating European settings and the nature of the tax incentives available to the film in London tipped the scale. "These are tough financial times right now that could pressure us to look at other locations," says Marvel Studios co-President Louis D'Esposito.

Starring Chris Evans, release date: July 22nd, 2011

NO ORDINARY FAMILY

Our pals at Spinoff Online linked to a trailer for the series hosted over at the LA Times:

Michael Chiklis with Golden Age Superman's powers? I can see how this made it to series.

Airdate: Fall

THE CAPE

Going in the costume direction, NBC's trailer for the show gives you a better idea of what's to come:

TURN ON THE LIGHT

With attention still on the TV upfronts, I took the opportunity to run down to the local Blockbuster and rent "Alan Wake," the new XBox exclusive game and boy, am I enjoying it. I'm already through episode one -- the game is split into a TV show format complete with "Previously on ... " tags before each chapter --and I find the mix of spookiness and mystery quite effective. I tend not to like horror games or games with lots of cut-scenes breaking the flow of gameplay, but so far this one is overcoming the usual traps of those styles. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of late night game sessions.
