Over the years of its volume-by-volume release, Bryan Lee O'Malley's Oni Press graphic novel series "Scott Pilgrim" earned a new wave of buzz surrounding which evil ex-boyfriend the titular hero would face in each new volume. With the Universal movie adaptation directed by Edgar Wright set to hit theaters on August 13, it appears that a similar online waiting game will be played with fans waiting for glimpses of how the "Hot Fuzz" director will twist each evil exes appearance when they land in theaters.
Step one on this journey of d-bag discovery is pro skater turned "A-list" actor Lucas Lee as portrayed by incoming Captain America Chris Evans. In a clip that debuted during last night's MTV Movie Awards, fans of the comic got to see a glimpse of how the diffident ex of Ramona Flowers from the comic got a world class jerk makeover along with an army of stunt doubles ready to pummel Michael Cera's Scott.
Far from the only news surrounding "Scott Pilgrim" to hit this weekend, Bryan Lee O'Malley also confirmed via his Twitter account that the final volume of the comic series - "Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour" - was completed and would be in bookstores on Tuesday July 20
with a likely release in comic shops on Wednesday July 21 [UPDATE: A representative from Oni Press confirmed for CBR News that the final "Scott Pilgrim" will ship to comic shops on Tuesday, July 20 as well]. The artist will return to his home of Toronto for a release party before the book's debut at The Beguiling comic store.
