Official Press Release

New York, NY (June 22, 2010): Archie Comics--publisher of the world's most beloved teenager from 1941 to today, Archie Andrews--is on the verge of a new renaissance! In the upcoming issues of ARCHIE (#610-613), Andy Andrews, the never-before-published star of his own 1950s comic, will make his print debut. To celebrate Andy's first print appearance, the entire unpublished comic "Iron Curtain Caper" is being released digitally on www.ArchieComics.com!

Archie Comics alum and writer Tom DeFalco and Editor-in-Chief Victor Gorelick knew of the unpublished Golden Age, Pre-1957 Archie pages featuring a character named Andy Andrews, and in a discussion about him Tom became so inspired that he spent all night creating a new story about Andy! The next day, Tom passionately pitched the concept to Gorelick, who immediately approved the story. It is a tale of bravery, mystery, excitement, laughter and spies. It is the adventure of "The Man from R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E."!

"Bringing back 'The Man from R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E.' is a great vehicle for introducing Andy Andrews into the world of Archie," said Archie Comics Editor-in-Chief, Victor Gorelick. "It fits the action/adventure theme of Andy's unpublished comic right into Archie and the gang's antics!"

In honor of the discovery of those rare pages, through the day of the release of Andy's first print appearance on June 23rd, the original 1950s story "Iron Curtain Caper" will be presented FREE for fans to read for the very first time on the Archie Comics website, www.ArchieComics.com.

Read Andy Andrews' further adventures in "The Man from R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E.", appearing on the pages of ARCHIE #610 to #613 starting June 23rd.
