GHOST RIDER: SPIRITS OF VENGENCE

Nicholas Cage tells MTV News that he's hyped to have his head set on fire again:

Release date: TBA

SUPERMAN (BEGINS)

Superman Homepage hears from "a source inside the studio" that director Chris Columbus has been offered the project. Columbus directed the first two "Harry Potter" films. Interestingly, the quotes from their source focus on the writer David Goyer's wish to director the film. "He's great at coming up with story and ideas, like George Lucas. It's his execution where he's weak which is why people like Chris and Jonathan Nolan and Guillermo Del Toro have had the best results with his scripts," says their source. I'm going to say their source is no other than ... Mr. Mxyzptlk!

Release date: 2012?

MEN IN BLACK 3D

Joblo.com has a roundup of info on the film, including its apparent villain, Yaz. "It would seem it would be hard to craft a 'badass hell biker' villain who is played by Flight of the Conchord’s Jemaine Clement and named after a side-effect prone brand of birth control. He's not meant to be particularly funny and the movie is careful to describe him as oozing badassery and violence out of every pore, which makes me wonder why they'd cast Clement over someone more appropriate like Ron Perlman or Mickey Rourke," they write.

Release date: May 25, 2012

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

Quint at Ain't It Cool News hears Aaron Johnson will be Cyclops in the film. Johnson, of course, played Kick-Ass for director Matthew Vaughn. According o AICN, Vaughn has always intended to recast the part, played by Tim Pocock in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

Release date: June 3rd, 2011

RED

Summit Entertainment has announced its Comic-Con plans. "Stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Karl Urban and Mary Louise Parker, director Robert Schwentke and graphic novel writer Warren Ellis will debut the film's trailer and appear on a panel on July 22," writes Deadline. It would appear Summit will have no "Twilight" panel this year with "Eclipse" already in release and "Breaking Dawn" still a ways from production.

Release date: October 22nd, 2010

SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

Heat Vision reports the film will "take over" the area around the Hilton Gaslamp, featuring a make-your-own-T-shirt stand hosted by the stars of the film. "That’s right: Stars Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anna Kendrick and even director Edgar Wright will take shifts to dress you," writes Heat Vision.

Starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, release date: August 13th 2010

SMALLVILLE

And since I'm talking Comic-Con presentation, Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello has details on the show's panel, which will happen on Sunday at 10am. Tom Welling and other stars will appear. "Did I mention acclaimed 'Smallville' writer Geoff Johns will be moderating said panel discussion?" writes Ausiello. Fans will also be treated to a sneak peak at the tenth season.

Airsdate: September 24th, 2010

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

Chris Evans talks Cap's suit with Empire Magazine. "It's an amazing costume. Given the fact that his costume is red, white and blue, and it's tight, and it could be kind of flash and over the top – and given the fact that the movie takes place in the '40s and '50s – they've done a really good job of making it look really cool," says the actor. "I think everyone that's going to see it is going to say, 'Okay, well done. Well done. I think they got the costume right. The casting they completely ruined, but the costume they nailed!'"

Starring Chris Evans, release date: July 22nd, 2011

MACHETE

Various sites received images from the film. Collider has lobby cards of Jessica Alba and Don Johnson, CHUD has a poster of Robert DeNiro and a lobby card of star Danny Trejo. Finally, Latino Review has another lobby card of Trejo and a poster of Alba.

Release date: September 3rd, 2010

DESPICABLE ME

In case you missed it, over at Spinoff Online, I spoke with the film's producer, Chris Meledandri, about the evolution of the main character and the surprises of developing an animated film. "I'm just a big believer in getting animators involved as early as you possibly can because frequently, when quota hits — when they're having to produce a certain amount of work per week — it puts an immediate limitation on how much experimentation they can do," says the producer.

Release date: Friday!

SHAME PILE

I have plenty of books sitting unread in a single spot in my room; this is my shame pile. It features that "Walking Dead" omnibus, a couple of Giffen/DeMatteis "Justice League" volumes, and even Darwin Cooke's adaptation of "The Hunter." While not sitting on the pile, I also have "Mad Men" Season 3 unwatched. I suppose I have catching up to do. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of my post Comic-Con pile.
