THE AVENGERS

Just in case you missed it, here at CBR, we live blogged the Marvel film panel on Saturday. In addition to stellar footage from "Thor," and a sneak peak at Odin's treasure room as it will appear in "Captain America," the entire cast of "The Avengers" made a quick appearance on stage to make everything all official like for fans:

Director Joss Whedon told MTV News about some of the qualities Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo bring to Hawkeye and Bruce Banner:

Release date: May 4th, 2012

DAN DARE

On Friday, Variety reported Warner Bros is "closing a deal" to bring Dan Dare to the screen. The film will star Sam Worthington. The article described the concept as centering on, "on a gallant chief pilot of the Interplanet Space Fleet. Time frame was the 1990s and the complex adventures were set on planets presumed to have extraterrestrial life."

Release date: TBA

COWBOYS & ALIENS

Our pals at Spinoff Online have the first official image from the film:

It is from the scene director Jon Favreau showed during the "Cowboys & Aliens" panel. Though only shot days before, it featured full effects and sound design. Favreau comissioned effects house ILM to polish the scene specifically for Comic-Con. I have to say it looks fantastic.

Starring Daniel Craig, release date: July 29th, 2011

THOR

Spinoff Online also has an interesting image from the show floor: The Infinity Gauntlet:

It is presumed the Gauntlet will have some part to play in the film, but I can't help but wonder if it will be part of the day "no superhero could act alone" Nick Fury speaks of in "The Avengers" teaser.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, release date: May 6th, 2011

A CONTRACT WITH GOD

According to MTV News, the Will Eisner graphic novel will become an anthology film. "Four directors, Alex Rivera ('Sleep Dealer'), Tze Chun ('Children of Invention'), Barry Jenkins ('Medicine for Melancholy') and Sean Baker ('Warren the Ape') will each tackle the book's individual chapters, 'A Contract With God,' 'The Street Singer,' 'The Super' and 'Cookalien,' respectively," they write. Former DC Comic editor Bob Schrek is involved as a producer. "We are all well aware that the work ahead has a very high bar of excellence to aspire to set by Mr. Eisner's pioneering achievements in storytelling," he said.

Release date: TBA

SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

I had the chance to speak to several of the stars of the film and Bryan Lee O'Malley on Friday about their reactions to the first showing of the film for fans the previous night for CBR. ""It was like a rock 'n' roll show. That energy was there right from the beginning of the film and never tapered off," said O'Malley. I also happened to be at the screening, but my review of the film will appear closer to its release date.

Starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, release date: August 13th 2010

TRON LEGACY

I covered the press conference for the film on Thursday for Spinoff Online. Director Joe Kosiniki talked about the absence of Laura and her electric counterpart Yori from the film. "You have to make difficult choices," Kosinski said. "Our story is a father/son story. It's the story of Sam Flynn in search of his father who disappeared into the ENCOM mainframe 20 years before. For this story, we choose to focus on the story of Sam and Kevin Flynn and the instrumental role of Tron and Alan Bradley in that story."

Starring Jeff Bridges, release date: December 17th, 2010

MARVEL ANIME

Here's video of Jeph Loeb announcing the coming of Marvel Anime on G4:

The project has been in development for some time with animation by Mad House Studio and writing care of Warren Ellis.

Release date: 2011

THE CAPE

CBR's Executive Producer Jonah Weiland hosted the Comic-Con Panel focusing on "The Cape," and of course, CBR was there. Be warned as the article does recap the pilot episode, which was screened for the panel audience. When asked what each actor liked about their characters, Keith David responded, "What's not to like? I like him because he is magical, theatrical, and dangerous."

Airdate: Fall

YOUNG JUSTICE

Spinoff Online has a first look at the series, complete with video from Warner Bros:

I actually had a chance to speak with Producers Greg Weisman and Btrandon Vietti. They showed me the footage they screened at the "Batman: the Brave & the Bold" and it looks great. Hopefully, I'll have more from them soon.

Release date: TBA

COMIC-CON WRAP UP: DAY ONE

Well, with all the news that came out of Comic-Con at light speed, we're all still playing catch up. One can assume the bulk of the news for the next few days will be material still trickling out of the Convention Center. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of next year.
