X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Rose Byrne is in talks to play Moira MacTaggert in the film. They describe the character as "a scientist and an authority on genetic mutation. She'll be the love interest of James McAvoy, who plays mutant telepath Charles Xavier." Meanwhile, Comingsoon.net has learned Jason Flemyng will also appear in the film. "That role will be Azazel, who was described as a "teleporter" during Flemyng's presentation for Jonathan English's Ironclad, but who is in fact none other than Nightcrawler's father!" they write.

Release date: June 3rd, 2011

GREEN LANTERN

Pietro Filipponi at Comic Book Movie has an early look at another member of the Green Lantern Corps. An insect fellow. Rather interesting. As always, this is an unconfirmed photo, but it'll be fun if this character is in the film:

Starring Ryan Reynolds, release date: June 17th, 2011

JUDGE DREDD

Empire has confirmed early reports that Karl Urban would be putting on the helmet of The Law as Judge Dredd. "We’ve cast a guy called Karl Urban to play Dredd. We'll be shooting in Johannesburg, it's being directed by Pete Travis, we're shooting with the people who did District 9 – and if we get it right, Alex has a couple of ideas for other stories as well. It's not based on any one comic, and John Wagner is involved in every decision," says producer Andrew Macdonald, speaking at the UK's Movie-Con.

Release date: TBA

RED

Ain't It Cool News has a reader review of the film. It's spoiler free and give special notice to John Malkovich and Ernest Borgnine. "Overall it is a fun flick and alot more humorious then i expected with some cool fight scenes and gunplay, however the only issue i really did have with the film was that it had a weird pacing issue. At only 110 minute runtime (without credits) it seems and feels like a much longer movie so im not sure if they are going to cut more of it but the 1st half of the movie definitely suffers from this issue," writes the AICN reader who requested to be called "Plastic Man."

Release date: October 22nd, 2010

ANT MAN

Director Edgar Wright tells Vanity Fair about the proposed Marvel superhero project despite some pretty condescending questions from the interviewer.

You’re an amazing director, Edgar, but I don’t know how this is going to work. I mean… Ant Man? The guy who becomes an ant? Isn’t that like trying to stop a mob boss with a box full of kittens?

I know there’s a big stigma attached to it, mostly because every movie about shrinking has been about people in peril. I think it’d be great to do a shrinking film about a bad-ass secret agent.

Release date: TBA

SECRET ORIGINS: THE STORY OF DC COMICS

Thanks to a press release we have here at CBR, we now know the release date for the DC Comics documentary. "Behind the amazing tales of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and a host of other well-known characters is the equally impressive story of the challenges, creativity and triumphs of the company that brought those characters to life. Secret Origin: The Story of DC Comics is both a celebration of the best writers and artists in comics and a thoughtful exploration of 75 years of DC Comics history," says the press release. Oh, the release date? It's in the item endtag.

Narrated by Ryan Reynolds, release date: November 9th, 2010

SMALLVILLE

Kryptonsite spotted this promo on YouTube for the tenth season:

Returns: September 24th, 2010

REEL RECHARGE

Thanks to a couple of rum drinks, one of my favorite episodes of "Justice League Unlimited," and a bit of rest, I'm ready for the week. I will be off on another assignment later in the week, but that shouldn't stop the Reel's daily spin. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, ready for the future threat of a stop in Arizona.
