FANTASTIC FOUR REBORN

Over the weekend, the Fantastic Four reboot got a boost with word of potential stars being eyed for the various parts. "According to my sources, Fox is currently pursuing high caliber talent to play the man whose ability allows him to not only act as the local genius, but to be completely elastic. The two actors in the running for "Fantastic Four's" Reed Richards are Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Adrien Brody," writes Screen Rant's Rob Keyes. Meanwhile, Pietro Filipponi at Comic Book Movie has this tidbit: "Just this week we learned that actress Alice Eve, since dropping out of her role as Emma Frost in 'X-Men: First Class', is being looked at by FOX to possibly carry the role of Susan Storm, the Invisible Woman, in the new Fantastic Four film series. Another actress being linked to role has just popped onto my radar: Amber Heard." It would appear the race is on to cast the three roles as the Thing will be created entirely in the computer this time around.

RED

Collider has a new set of images from the film. I've chosen this one as it really is strange out of context:

Meanwhile, Kevin Hilyard wrote in to tell me he saw a preview screening of the film. "So having said all that, RED is pretty fun though pedestrian in its aspirations. John Malkovich runs wild playing the role of a mentally unstable, conspiracy theorist, ex-assassin. Willis plays his typical loveable yet deadly persona. Weeds [Mary-Louise Parker] shows up as a square thrust into an extraordinary situation who learns to revel in it. So basically it';s all stuff we';ve seen before…" He's goes on into a little bit more detail behind this link.

Release date: October 22nd, 2010

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

Producer Bryan Singer laid down some details about the film for Ain't It Cool News. "The film takes place in the 1960's. John F Kennedy is the President of the United States. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X are on TV doing marches. There is a spirit of a hopeful future that was prevalent in that time. We will see how Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr met - and how they dreamt of a future with Mutant & Human kind. They're going to be in their late twenties. Xavier - as played by James McAvoy will not be in his wheelchair to begin the film - but we will see how he wound up in a wheelchair. I asked if McAvoy would have a nice shiny chrome dome - and folks. We're going to see Professor X when he still had hair. We'll see McAvoy and Fassbender's Magneto formulate what it is they are attempting by creating the X-MEN," writes AICN's Harry Knowles, who had a chat with the director. "Now Bryan wanted us to know this is not the conventional FIRST CLASS comic - but rather a new beginning for X-MEN. Set in the 60s - Vaughn is technologically inspired by JAMES BOND's tech of the time. The costumes will be far more comic bookish than we've seen before."

Release date: June 3rd, 2011

WOLVERINE 2

Meanwhile, the Vulture hears its down to two directors for the "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" sequel. "'Twilight: Eclipse' director David Slade, and Robert Schwentke ('Flightplan', 'The Time Traveler's Wife'). Both men have been approved by the studio's brass, and though Jackman will ultimately be the one to make the call after meeting with each next week, a well-placed source inside the production insists, 'It's going to be Slade," they write.

GHOST RIDER 2: SPIRITS OF VENGENCE

According to the news item, "The action movie inspired from the Marvel comics will be shot starting this Fall in Romania, Marketing Manager at Castel Film, Bogdan Moncea declared for Hotnews.ro. The film produced by Columbia Pictures is the first big American production shot in Romania, after Cold Mountain in 2002. Ghost Rider 2 will also be the first 3D movie shot in Romania."

SMALLVILLE

Michael Ausiello at Entertainment Weekly has learned a Luthor is returning for the final season. "John Glover has signed on to reprise his role as Lex's late pa, Lionel, for multiple episodes during "Smallville's" 10th and final season, sources confirm to me exclusively," writes Ausiello. I bet there's a brain swapping plot if they can't get Michael Rosenbaum to make one last appearance on the show.
