This morning, DC Comics official The Source blog went live with a first look at one of October's biggest releases: "Superman: Earth One." A 21st Century take on the mythos of the Man of Steel by J. Michael Straczynski and Shane Davis, the original graphic novel was described by the blog as "Clark Kent is a man looking for meaning in a new city and an age of failing newspapers, hand-held devices and instant gratification. But when you can fly through the sky and burn objects with a glance – things become a tad more complicated. Doubly so when a fleet of alien ships arrive on your doorstep."

Last December, Straczynski spoke with CBR about the book, saying "The Superman part of the equation is, as noted in the other stories, really the story of Clark's coming out as Superman, and his decision to essentially enter a life of service when he could have been anyone, could have been rich as an athlete, researcher, any number of things. I'm also taking time to really think through elements of the mythos that we've accepted without maybe really sitting back and saying, 'Why?'"

"Superman: Earth One" ships to comic shops in October.
