THE AVENGERS

Jeremy Renner tells MTV News his Hawkeye will not wear the purple costume:

The character has more of a uniform in "The Ultimates," right? Meanwhile, Clark Gregg discussed various S.H.I.E.L.D. related topics with Movieweb. "That's what's been cool so far is that you get to work with a kind of caliber of actor in these Marvel films that I didn't grow up associating with Super Hero movies. Also, everybody seems to be having a good time so it's really kind of a pleasant place to work in. There is also something about, even though there is a real reverence about the fan base and wanting to make sure the fans are thrilled by what we and what Marvel comes up with for this, at the same time it's a comic book movie. There's a real sense of humor and an irony. I think in a way it allows people to take chances with their performances and that makes it a good gig," he replied when asked to guess about the atomsphere on set.

Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012

MIRACLE PARK

Mark Millar let IGN in on the secret of his directorial debut. According to the article, "Set in contemporary Scotland, this dark, unique superhero story focuses on a group of animal rights activists who break into a low-level research laboratory to find a mile-long underground base owned and facilitated by the US government. Described as The 'X-Men' meets 'Trainspotting', 'Miracle Park' breaks all the taboos of superhero cinema and offers a completely new take on the genre. The movie is shot entirely on a hand-held camera, establishing a tone more consistent with 'Paranormal Activity' or 'The Last Exorcism' than a traditional superhero release." Millar expects to be done shooting in October.

Release date: TBA

SUPERIOR

Meanwhile, one of the lads at Comic Book Movie rounded up a bunch of Millar's Twitter posts regarding the film future of "Supehero." The round-up included this interesting quote: "I've promised Matthew Vaughn a first pass at Superior though. We're going to talk next week whether it's this, KA2 or something else next." He then followed it with, "Vaughn and I will be doing lots of head-scratching between Superior and Kick-Ass 2 next week." Hmmm. Millar is very, very good and drumming up attention, isn't he?

A CLEAN DESK

I have a phone interview later today which should go up rather quickly. Should be a good one. Since that's not until the afternoon, I'm going to clear out some of the clutter that accumulates around here.
