SUPERMAN (BEGINS)

According to Deadline, Christopher Nolan -- wearing his producer's hat for this one -- has a short list of stout men who could take on the Man of Steel. "On the list: 'Unstoppable's' Tony Scott, 'Let Me In' director Matt Reeves, 'Battle: Los Angeles' helmer Jonathan Liebesman (who just got the Warner Bros/Legendary job of directing 'Clash of the Titans 2'), Duncan Jones, who just directed 'Source Code', and 'Sucker Punch' helmer Zack Snyder," writes Deadline's Mike Fleming. Of that list, I'd like to see Duncan Jones get the director's chair.

Release date: 2012?

SPIDER-MAN (BEGINS)

Variety reports actress Emma Stone may have a part in the reboot. "Stone has also been added to a list including Lily Collins, Teresa Palmer and Mia Wasikowska the studio is considering for one of two female leads in the untitled "Spider-Man" pic. The studio would not confirm which role Stone is up for." Variety's sources here the role will not be Mary Jane, but "a new lead role." Hmmmmm ....

Release date: May 28th, 2012

EMILY THE STRANGE

Hit Girl Chloe Moretz will play the well known logo/toy/occasional comic book character according to Heat Vision. "The story line is being kept under wraps, although the aim is to tell the origin of the punk and gothic figure and her four cats -- troublemaker Sabbath, schemer Nee-Chee, imaginative Miles and leader Mystery," they write.

Release date: TBA

GREEN LANTERN

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

Starring Chris Evans, release date: July 22nd, 2011

BATMAN 3

Nolan Fans (via Collider) caught Christopher Nolan talking about the film. Collider was kind enough to transcribe the pertinent answer from an "Inception" press conference. The director says, "I don’t like to talk too much about things until I’m further along with them.  But I’m working on the script right now.  My brother Jonah has done a draft for the script and now I’m writing on it.  We have set a release date and as far as the film being officially greenlit, they haven’t told they don’t want to do it. So I’m hopeful." Not much more than we already knew, but more than he's been willing to say on the record before.

Release date: July 20th, 2012

ALL STAR SUPERMAN

MTV News has a first look at the trailer for next year's direct-to-video film:

Release date: Winter 2011

SMALLVILLE

MTV News also spoke with "Smallville" producers Brian Petersen and Kelly Souders about the final season. "We've all had a game plan — which is great, because we're able to really work toward that final episode. We're protected for it, so we feel really good about the position we're in right now, and it's obviously, like you said, so exciting to be to able to have a whole season to lead up to the last episode," said Petersen. "I think that what we've really done this year is push this as the final chapter of 'Smallville.' Hopefully, fans who've been with the show for a whole decade will feel like their storyline has been wrapped up nicely, but obviously the story doesn't end here," added Souders.

Returns: Tonight!
