It's appears as though the producers of Sony's upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot are looking to turn an "Easy A" into an MJ.
Deadline is reporting this morning a confirmation of the long-standing rumors that actress Emma Stone will be offered the role of Mary Jane Watson in director Marc Webb's planned high school take on the Spidey mythos. The candidate field for the coveted part was wide-ranging, though as the site says, casting is not entirely closed yet as comics character Gwen Stacey is also expected to be a part of the 2012 film, and actresses including Dianna Agron, Mia Wasikowska, Georgina Haig and Dominique McElligott are still vying for that role.
Stone's latest starring effort – the high school twist on "The Scarlet Letter" "Easy A" – crossed the $7 Million box office barrier this weekend on strong reviews centering on her performance. However, even with Stone locking in as the lady love of the new screen Spidey Andrew Garfield, much about the rebranding of the superhero blockbuster franchise remains unknown...including what villains will take part in the film.
