"The Super Hero Squad Show" premieres its new season on October 23

Sunday at New York Comic Con was Kid's Day, so it was very appropriate that Marvel Television held a panel to showcase two of its animated programs: "The Super Hero Squad Show" and "Iron Man: Armored Adventures." At the start of the panel, Marvel Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada emerged from the audience and took the podium to introduce Jeph Loeb, Marvel's Head of Television and panel moderator.

Loeb opened the panel by expressing Marvel's goal to make these animated programs a kid's first introduction to the Marvel Universe. He paused to recognize Matt Wayne, Story Editor of "The Super Hero Squad Show" who was in attendance but seated in the crowd.

The panel was filled with children sitting on the laps of their parents or standing on chairs looking for a better view of the stage. Some were even in costume as Wolverine, War War Machine, a Thor or two and even a Buzz Lightyear. Unfortunately, when Loeb asked all the children if they had received their Super Hero Squad Squad two-pack of toys upon entering the room, he heard a surprising "no" in response. Apparently, the toys didn't make it to the panel, but Loeb promised if they came by Marvel's booth later on, they would have something sorted out.

The panel also hit a bit of a snag when Loeb's slide presentation was delayed when there was glitch of some kind with the projector before even starting.

"Can the kids tell me who some of their favorite characters are?" Loeb asked while the event crew came to the stage to sort the projector troubles.

"Falcon!" shouted one child. "Ms. Marvel!" shouted another. "Silver Surfer!" by yet another.

"Part of the fun of these cartoons is getting particular actors to voice some of these characters," Loeb expressed, as the projector finally started to show the slides. He then ran down some of the voice casting for the upcoming second season of "The Super Hero Squad Show." Among those named were Jim Parsons as Nightmare, Jane Lynch as Nebula, Adam West as Nighthawk, Ty Burrell as Captain Marvel, and Katee Sackhoff as She-Hulk.

After the slides, Loeb said that one of the reasons why he wanted to do this particular panel was the opportunity to ask the kids, "Do you wanna watch some cartoons?"

The children answered with a resounding, "Yes!" Loeb told the children in the audience he couldn't hear them and asked again. After a more satisfying reply, he introduced a screening of the first episode of the new season of "The Super Hero Squad Show" which is set to premiere on October 23rd on Cartoon Network.

Following the episode, he showed half of the premiere episode from the upcoming new season of "Iron Man: Armored Adventures," which premieres in the spring of 2011 on Nicktoons. Following the "Iron Man" episode, slides of character designs for Titanium Man, Iron Monger, Black Widow, and Dr. Doom were shown.

At the conclusion of the panel, Loeb gave a special thanks to several of his co-workers at Marvel Animation: Vice President Cort Layne, Megan Thomas Bradner, one of the producers on "Iron Man: Armored Adventures," and Kalia Cheng.
