RED

With the film coming out today, here's a roundup of CBR's coverage. We have interviews with Mary-Louise Parker, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, and the double act of Bruce Willis and Karl Urban. Also, here's my review of the film, which I found to be highly entertaining and more like a caper film than an action blockbuster -- but that's a good thing!

Release date: Today!

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

Zoe Kravitz tells The Daily Nexus (via Comic Book Movie) about working on the film. "Matthew Vaughn’s directing and he’s incredibly talented, and the cast is incredible. They’ve all become my new little family away from home. It’s definitely a fantastic experience," she says.

Release date: June 3rd, 2011

THE FLASH

IGN caught up with Bradley Cooper to ask him about "The Flash" rumor. His response: "I've never heard of it." IGN's Jim Vejvoda metions the actors did the same thing when he was rumored to be playing Face in "The A-Team" -- a rumor which turned out to be true. "His demeanor and banter with a co-star after the question was asked indicated he was uncomfortable talking about it," Vejvoda writes. Are we reading tea leaves here or is Cooper playing it close to the chest?

Release date: TBA

THE GREEN HORNET

Latino Review has your first look at a new poster for the film:

I like it. Much more mysterious than the ones we saw at Comic-Con.

Staring Seth Rogen, release date: January 14th, 2011

GREEN LANTERN

Here's video of Mark Strong talking about filming in the motion tracking suits thanks to absoluteradio.co.uk (via Comic Book Movie):

Starring Ryan Reynolds, release date: June 17th, 2011

THE AVENGERS

Access Hollywood asked actress Morena Baccarin about rumors she might appear in the film as "The Wasp." She tells them, "I wish I had more information for you." Baccarin has a worked with director Joss Whedon before on "Firefly" and Serenity. The AH article even mentions her resemblance to the character. She went on to say, "All I will say is I will never turn down an opportunity to work with him ... He's one of my favorite people in the world."

Release date: May 4th, 2012

XERXES

Zach Snyder tell Greek website Athinormama (via Collider) about a scene in the "300" follow-up. "We’re doing all these sequences were the triremes all crash together and the battlefield is all the boats crashing together so the men run across the ships as they’re fighting, so that should be fun. And horses and everything. It’s crazy," says the director. Snyder also mentions the film will happen after "Superman".

Release date: TBA

SPIDER-MAN (BEGINS)

Moviehole reports Sony is looking for actors to portray a young Peter Parker and Billy Connors, the son of Curt. That would give credence to the appearance of (the still technically rumored villain) The Lizard ... or Connors could have a similar role as he had in the original "Spider-Man" cycle. For young Peter, they're looking for a boy aged four to six. For Billy, they're looking in the eight to eleven range.

Release date: May 28th, 2012

THE INCREDILE HULK

In case you missed it, here at CBR, we reported "The Incredible Hulk" is returning to television on ABC. I just hope the piano tune will have a place in the series. ABC is also looking at some other Marvel properties with an eye toward TV. "Ka-Zar," and "Heroes for Hire" are among them. They're even considering "The Punisher" as a cable offering.

Airdate: TBA

THE WALKING DEAD

Producer Gale Anne Hurd tells Blastr what they would ideally need to make Season 2 a reality for next Fall. "We will need a pickup before January 1st, because we'd want to be shooting by late spring," she says. If picked up, Season 2 will be 13 episodes in length.

Airdate: October

SMALLVILLE

Tom Welling disusses the 200th episode with IGN. "It's amusing for me to look back at some of the earlier episodes. I mean, I'm a completely different person, physically and mentally. The times when I catch an old episode, or maybe even put one on as reference for something we're doing now, I can't help but be a little surprised. "Look at that kid! He doesn't know what the hell he's doing!" And that's Clark and me."

Airs: Fridays

WEEKEND GETAWAY

Cue a Lucky Soul track and get me a White Russian -- It's the weekend! I'll be spending it up North with friends and hitting (in order of appearence): breakfast, a wedding, a birthday party, another breakfast, a possible podcast recording, and another breakfast. I'll be back in Los Angeles bright and early Monday morning with more Comic Reel. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take cit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of coffee cake.
