SPIDER-MAN (BEGINS)

As we reported yesterday here at CBR, Martin Sheen is in talks to play Uncle Ben in the "Spider-Man" reboot; which is pretty wild. Soon after, though, reports of a name for Aunt May started floating around. As we reported earlier this morning, Heat Vision confirms Sally Field is in "early talks" for the role. They describe the earliest version of Aunt May as "a frail lady." Meanwhile, Rhys Ifans tells MTV News that he is excited to play the film's mystery villain. "I'm constantly suppressing a very wide smile," he says.

Release date: May 28th, 2012

BONNYROAD

Our old friend at Bleeding Cool hears tell of Grant Morrison and Stephen Fry's TV series hitting a snag. "[It] is not slated for any kind of production for at least the next twelve months. Possibly even the next twelve months," he writes. "The blame is down to a pincer of two things – BBC Scotland pushing too many things through the BBC bottleneck, and planned cutbacks all over the shop as a result of the BBC licence fee freeze."

Release date: June 3rd, 2011

DEADPOOL

Rhett Reese tells io9 about writing the script. While it will touch on the origins of the character, Wade happens to be a fun character to write. "He's a warped character, and that's why he's so fun to write. Various writers have tackled him and I think that particular club of people have always enjoyed being able to just go places with a character that you wouldn't be able to go with any other character. Because he's completely crazy. That's the joy of writing him. You don't have to place any limits on decorum, or what might pop into his head, what reference he might make to pop culture. He'll go anywhere and say anything and that's the joy of writing him," says Reese. While he's proud of the script, the writer expects it will be rewritten when a director finally comes on board.

SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK

According to Entertainment Weekly, the "Spider-Man" musical is delayed -- again! -- until early next year. "The reported $60 million production, which was to have begun previews Nov. 14 in advance of a Dec. 21 opening, will now begin preview performances on Nov. 28 and open officially on Jan. 11, 2011," they write. "Shows like ours, that embrace the challenge of opening on Broadway without an out-of-town tryout, often need to adjust their schedules along the way," says lead producer Michael Cohl in a statement quoted by EW. If this keeps up, the show will debut a full year after its intended start date.

Release date: 2011?

WEEKEND FORCE PUSH

Get me a rum drink and cue that Loverboy track -- it's the weekend! With my desk cleared of business, I'm getting some serious break time in. Maybe I'll track down a copy of "The Force Unleashed II" and toss some stormtroopers off high platforms. Maybe I'll just read Roger Ebert's "Your Movie Sucks." Either way, it's leisure activity city for me. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take cit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of the week ahead.
