COWBOYS & ALIENS

Universal released a trully great teaser poster for the film yesterday and of course, we have it.

Meanwhile, Ed Gross at Comic Book Movie spoke with writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci about the film. While Orci says their initial script was on the jokier side, it became more serious as the heavyweight cast came together. Kurtzman added, "When the cast started coming together, it ended up dictating a lot of tone as well, because when you have Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford and Sam Rockwell, and Olivia Wilde and Paul Dano, and everyone in this incredible cast, it starts to tell you a little bit about what the movie sounds like. We spent a good month with everyone in rehearsals, just re-writing and re-writing and getting it to a pitch that everyone agreed on."

Starring Daniel Craig, release date: July 29th, 2011

MEN IN BLACK III

According to The Los Angeles Times, the film will begn shooting today, but take an unorthodox hiatus in the middle of production. "Two sources close to the 3-D production say the plan is for the film to shoot through the week of Christmas, then shut down until the middle of February, when it will resume," they write. Their sources claim the portions of the story taking place in 1969 will be rewritten during that break with the modern parts of the story being films before the holiday break.

Release date: May 25, 2012

AFTERBURN

Deadline reports Gerard Butler is set to star in "Afternburn," an adaptaton of the Red 5 comic. Antoine Fuqua is also being courted as director. According to the article, the comic takes place "a year after a solar flare burns half the surface of a planet, and treasure hunters return to retrieve what's left of value."

Release date: TBA

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

The production is looking to shoot at the Albany, Georgia Civic Center, according to the Albany Herald (via Superhero Hype), but there could be scheduling difficulties. "There are conflicts with existing events that have already booked the Civic Center for events in December, such as Albany State University’s Winter Commencement, which could hamper the studio’s ability to use the facility," they write. Of course, a resolution is always possible.

Release date: June 3rd, 2011

SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK

The LA Times has its own Anne Liebovitz photo to share this morning:

Now why couldn't this Green Goblin has been in the movie. He would've been truly frightening.

Release date: 2011?

THE INCREDILE HULK

As we previously reported, there is a Hulk series in the works, but as our plas at Spinoff Online report, the project has been infused with geek pedigree thanks to Guillermo del Toro and "Battlestar Galactica" producer David Eick coming on board to shape the series. While Eick is writing the pilot, del Toro is set to direct ... provided there's time in his always busy schedule.

Airdate: TBA

BATMAN

Comic Book Movie has a very interesting rumor this morning. Namely, the return of Batman to TV screens. Their source claims an executive who ovesaw such shows as "Two and Half Men" and "ER" is spearheading the intiative. Most intriguing of all is this: "It has also been mentioned that this is a way to re-introduce The Joker as a completely new version and not step on Heath’s memory/version, as WB knows this is a sensitive subject. They believe that the Joker alone will garner ratings through the roof and are already planning on a closed set with extremely tight security to prevent any leaked footage." As always, a grain of salt is required for a story like this, but if it proves to be true, we could have a new small screen Caped Crusader on television.

Airdate: TBA

THE CAPE

But speaking of capes, an airdate is finally set and we have a couple of previews for the series.

Also, check out our earlier coverage of the show from Comic-Con. Our own executive producer Jonah Weiland moderated a panel with the cast and creators of the show. We also had a look at the cover for the comic supporting the series.

Airdate: January 9th, 2011

THE WALKING DEAD

AMC has made available a sneak peak at the fourth episode of the series. As I'm an episode behind, I haven't watched the clip, but I present to you as a courtesy:

Airs: Sundays

SMALLVILLE

And it wouldn't be the early part of the week without a "Smallville" preview from the fine folks at CW Television. Here at CBR, we also have a couple of clips from the episode, the preview, and plenty of stills. Here's the preview:

Airs: Fridays

UPCOMING

With the holiday corridor fast approaching, there will probably a be a nice long rush of news and rumors right up until next Wednesday. And after a few days of radio silence, we'll have something special to relieve of the taste of turkey. Oh, but that's for another time. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take cit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of holiday foodstuffs.
