Official Press Release

Diamond is currently reporting that Top Cow and Image Comics' Wanted #1 has completely sold out of its print run through the distributor. The title debuted into retail stores nationwide last Wednesday, December 10th.

Writer Mark Millar comments, "When McLauchlin called and said we'd done JLA numbers on the first issue I was as freaked out as I was excited because I didn't know if the retailer confidence on this book would extend to the readers too. It wasn't until Diamond announced a complete sell-out that I could properly relax and enjoy the fact that we seem to have something of an enormous hit on our hands and the huge initial orders are just the beginning."

"This is just a big, sloppy thank you to the readers and the retailers who supported this initiative and hopefully a good indication of how the rest of the first wave will go down. JG and I are having a brilliant time on this book and with Top Cow and it's genuinely heartening to see that there are other sick, degenerate freaks out there too willing to part with their cash to see this kind of stuff."

"We're damn pleased at the reception this book has received, although not surprised, as we're fortunate to have the finest creative team in comics on this," says Top Cow Editor-in-Chief Jim McLauchlin. "And honestly, #1 is just the warm-up. The surprises at the end of BOTH #2 and #3 will jar the hell out of readers. And there's a new character in #2, not even glimpsed in #1, who will scare the pants offa ya."

Currently, Top Cow is evaluating whether to go back to press for a 2nd printing of issue #1. Wanted #2 is scheduled to hit the stands on January 7th, 2004.

Top Cow was founded in December of 1992 and currently publishes its line of comic books in 21 languages in over 55 different countries. The company has launched 20 franchises (18 original and 2 licensed) in the industry's Top 10, seven at #1, a feat accomplished by no other publisher in the last two decades. Its flagship franchise Witchblade was TNT's #1 original film of 2000. Virtually all of Top Cow's other properties are in development as feature films, live action television or animation. Top Cow has also successfully licensed and merchandised its franchises into toys, statues, clothing, lithographs, puppets, posters, shot glasses, lighters, lunch pails, wall scrolls, mouse pads, die cast cars, calendars, Christmas ornaments, Halloween masks, trading cards, standees, video games and role playing games.
