SPIDER-MAN (BEGINS)

MTV News has a couple of interviews with the stars of the reboot film. Andrew Garfield ruminates on the future. "I was thinking about my nephews that are going to have an uncle who's Spider-Man, but then I thought that could be bad because kids can bully you for any reason, and it's like, 'Where's your uncle now when I'm beating the sh-- out of you?' I'll have to go to their school a lot, but by that time I'll be really old and fat and no one will believe I was Spider-Man." Meanwhile, Emma Stone talks prepping for the film. "I went and did hair tests, because I have blonde hair now since Gwen has blonde hair. My natural hair is blonde, so it's kind of nice. I looked in the mirror and said, 'Oh my god, it's me again, it's been so long!' We're finalizing the visual stuff. And I think we'll start actually rehearsing, because we start shooting in two weeks. Andrew and I went and learned about science yesterday. Gwen really likes science, so we learned about science. I was home-schooled, so I never went to chemistry class in a traditional setting like Gwen is into."

THE HOBBIT

As our pals at Spinoff Online report, the film will be shot in 3D with the Epic Red digital camera. What is that? "I'm not a scientist or mathematician, but the image Red produces has a much more filmic feel than most of the other digital formats," explained director Peter Jackson in a press release. "I find the picture quality appealing and attractive, and with the Epic, Jim and his team have gone even further. It is a fantastic tool, the Epic not only has cutting edge technology, incredible resolution and visual quality, but it is also a very practical tool for film makers. Many competing digital systems require the cameras to be tethered to large cumbersome VTR machines. The Epic gives us back the ability to be totally cable free, even when working in stereo [3D]." Meanwhile, Movieweb notes the official site of Ian McKellan has added a listing for the film. Presumably, the actor is on board to reprise his role as Gandalf the Grey, but no official word has come from the studio. During the filming of "The Lord of the Rings" McKellan posted blog updates from the epic filming of the trilogy.

SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK

The preview performance has happened and Collider rounded up some reviews which includes this less than favorable take: "I hated it. Im waiting for the train home so ill write more later but that was such a huge disappointment. The fashion show was horrible. All of the villians looked horrible. That whole love thing with arachne made no sense whatsoever. They also had 4 kids in act 1 basically talking about what was happening and then somehow in act 2 they end up really being in the story. The book is a total cluster****. A u2 song made it into the show as well. Arachne also sings a song about her shoes. Awful. Just awful. I highly doubt ill be seeing it when it actually opens. I love spider-man and i thought i was gonna love this but damn i hated it." Ouch. Meanwhile, CBS's 60 Minutes has a preview of the show:

Opens: 2011?

YOUNG JUSTICE

In case you missed it in the Turkey Frenzy last week, here at CBR, we have an interview with Jesse McCartney, the singer-songwriter who also voices Robin on the new animated series. "These are only 22-minute shows, so they're really just trying to re-introduce the relationships. You see a lot of scenes of him and Batman where Batman is encouraging him to step up and be a leader of this team and Dick Grayson is very reluctant to do that because he still feels that he doesn’t know enough, which you do see throughout the episodes. You'll see that he's still very young and still very green when it comes to leading a team like this," he says of the character.
